DDTI Thread
I'm making an adaptor for a DDTI the thread sizes was supposed to be 2.5mm after much cursing and searching to find size variants seems there are a few. I discover these are NF #4-48. My problem now is locating a die to cut the new thread.

In all material/books I have, no mention of #4-48 only place I found it was on my Suttons wall chart and on this plastic gauge son gave me.

Hi Ray,
When I made the wheel follower for my DDTI, I cut the threads on the lathe ! I couldn't find a die anywhere.
M2 and M2.5 dies are common !

That last picture is one from the web of what it I made. It works very well !Best Regards:

Hi Ray,
You don't want to be using carbon steel on stainless with a thread that small.
I used to do hundreds of 4BA threads on stainless steel rods ! The carbon steel dies simply had the teeth ripped off. I started to buy top quality Presto and Dormer HSS ones after discovering that the rods wouldn't thread into their holes because half the threads were missing. Surprisingly the Presto dies cut much better !Best Regards:

Thank you all LPR might just be the go. Saying that if I can grind the tool to 60^ the ML7 gearing I have will set me up to give it a go in cutting it. I can only try.

After a few days Dr advised feet up R&R I got back into this project yesterday, frustrated with not findung the right size thread outlaying for tools (of course won't be a waste just add to collection).
I spent an hour or so going through thread gauges while wearing a head mounted magnifier and finally found the DTI thread is 2.2mm x .45 lesson learnt never rely on someone elses measurement .
