Machinery Transport Adelaide
Dont think I have asked this before.....
I need to move 3 machines from Cavan to Aldgate - 1,000kg, 2,700kg and 3,200kg.
Any Adelaidians know of good removalist companies? I just got a verbal quote of $2,200!!!!!!!!!!!! The last mob I tried to use dropped a mill off the forklift.
Most likely need a forklift capable of the 3,200kg and preferably one that fits under a 2280mm roller door. Will be hard with a truck mounted crane as those generally do not have the ability to point downwards and get into the roller door.
Thoughts?

In my experience as soo as anything other than just a truck crane gets involved it starts to get very very expensive

I have used GKR Transport twice for moving milling machines. The machine is forklifted onto a Hiab truck, truck goes to where it is needed, the Hiab crane lifts it off the truck and pallet jacks are used to move the equipment where needed. A pallet jack usually has a capacity of 2500kg, no problem with using two of them. So for the price of the shire of a Hiab truck and two pallet jacks your problem could be solved.

Brick trucks usually have all terrain forklifts with very experienced operators just make sure that each machine is chained to the forklift especially top heavy machines such as mills, band saws etc so they can't fall off.

$2200 is reasonable. 3200kg is a big lift for mobile equipment.
You can try Nicks Cranes or Fork’nCranes but both will be around if not more than your existing quote.

Trent Buddle has shifted a few things for us, mainly Guilos and Brake press. He's based in Murray Bridge and has several trucks and a Franna Crane to help move machinery, and basically will go anywhere.

Will you get more options if you can skate the machines out so the roller door is not an issue?

It cost me less than that to get an 8 tonne 12m long steel sailboat moved from shed to marina!
Ditto for moving an 8.5 tonne tracked loader over 360 km.

Different equipment in a different state under different circumstances, seems logical there would be a different pricing structure.
My folder, guillotine and slip roller came from Brisbane to Adelaide on standard size pallets and cost about $160 each in transport. I sent a small round column mill to Townsville from Adelaide on a standard size pallet, partially disassembled so the cubic dimensions were as small as possible and it cost $700.
