Atlas 7" Shaper
While lathe hunting the other day I came across an old Atlas 7" shaper. It's the tiniest little thing, I couldn't resist!!
Ive been busy cleaning up a couple of lathes but I intend on restoring this as best as I can. As it sits, everything appears to work as it should and nothing is that worn that its not fixable. I am unsure of its vintage.
Just thought I would share.

That's an interesting small shaper.
What does the handwheel at the back/top of the ram do?

Nice
That's a great find, it is probably the only example of that shaper in Tasmania !
Lots of information out there because they were/are very popular in the USA with thousands being made since the late 30's into the late 50's from memory. Repro parts are availabel too . A uncommon shaper here in Aust., think username 'welder' on this forum has one. I have a Acorn shaper which is a Atlas clone that was made in the UK ? https://sites.google.com/site/lagado...per---atlas-7b

Thanks for the comments.
I am not sure if Ill get a lot of use out of it but I could say the same for all my 'toys' I suppose.
Yes I doubt there would be too many in Tassie. I also have a South Bend Lathe, which Id say there wouldnt be another of those in Tassie either. I love the older machinery, especially these US made units, they have a large following.
