Thanks for that Rob, a most interesting insight to an Australian company.

Somehow I doubt all the components will be made here. We do not have the capability to make bearings. Caravans will not go far without bearings. Well I suppose they will, but a lot of sparks will be involved.

Wellington Bearings still make bearings in Oz, I think:

No affiliation and I haven't ever asked for details re: their Australian manufacturing, but they claim to manufacture on their site.

Strangely they used to make ball (and roller bearings I think) in Euchuca of all places. During the Second World War, a factory was set up and more recently in the same factory buildings that one housed the bearing factory, old machines for which there were no drawings were refurbished to make medical masks for the defence against Covid19.

Timken must have had a plant somewhere. If I had to guess I would say Sunshine in Melbourne, no I was wrong it was Ballarat. Have seen a few Made in Australia Timken bearings out of a Sunshine made International tractor.

They could be assembled from local and imported ingredients.

I have a vague recollection of visiting a bearing factory in Echuca as a primary school student, part of a Victorian tour by train. (sleeping and eating on board for a week)
Also remember spc at Shepparton, maybe wheat at dunnoly.
