Milling machine
Fujian Dong Fang Machine Factory
Model QW32 (Milling Machine)
Google search comes up with nothing.
It is a gear head, 1hp round column machine, fairly old I think.
Does anyone own one of these or know anything about them?
Cheers.

QW32 round column?... sounds like one of those generics/copy or similar to those copies at Hare Forbes or Grizzly?
but what aint generic these days

I think this is not generic because there doesn't seem to be a pic of any "the same".
No doubt there are loads of "looks similar" machines, but they don't interest me, just want to know about this specific model, or perhaps another model made by this particular factory so at least the quality might be known.
I don't fancy may chances though because google usually comes up with a result, but not on this factory or model.

Does the mill have a long key on the round column, that prevents the head from rotating when it is unclamped?

Thanks, I was curious because the mill seems similar to an Emco FB-2, which has the long key feature - a good thing in itself.
My view is that for a mainland Chinese obscure model, the quality unknown but could be anything from poor to reasonable - don't pay a lot for it.

If I was looking for a small.mill I would be prefering a type that uses a dovetail type column

I saw that mill. I'm not interested as I have a HM-45.
What sort of stuff do you want it for?
Generally, with a dovetail column, on can raise and lower the head without loosing x Y position.
I'd look at H&F and see what you can get new to compare, maybe?

There are literally hundreds of foundries and machine manufacturers in China, all making their brand of milling machine.
I think you would be lucky to find info on any one particular brand unless it was a high end brand.
If you are after a machine and the one you showed a picture of looks like it's the size of machine you are after, I would happily travel the 200Km to have a look*.
* Assuming you don't have any travel restrictions in your area.
Cheers,
SimonGirl, I don't wanna know about your mild-mannered alter ego or anything like that." I mean, you tell me you're, uh, super-mega-ultra-lightning babe? That's all right with me. I'm good. I'm good.

There is the same model for sale on eBay at present, some better photos, the machine Dosent look to be overly well secured at the head, only appears by the photos to be able to tighten the head with kipp type handles, raise and lower of the head by screw.
In my opinion you may be limited to the type of work ( cutting ) on this model compared to similar geared head round column mills that use a more rigid method of locking the head.
