OH No - a ID10T user error
I wanted to put a groove in either side of a level I am making. Just to be able to grip it better. Not having a ball end mill on hand, I decided to try a ball end carbide burr.
Put the burr in the collet and just nipped it up to check if I had enough clearance.
Set it all up very carefully and proceeded to start the cut. The burr was cutting wonderfully, then I realised my groove was running downhill. ID10T machine operator forgot to tighten the collet properly. GRRRRRR.

Been exactly there before. My sympathies. Now all you need to do is start at the same point with the same torque on the collect for the other side.

To make you feel better, I think most of us are/would be guilty of doing something similar in our life.
To recover it, just machine it level to the top and bottom, at least it's not a FUBAR!!

Don't think I've ever done that and not realised just before the endmill hit the workpiece...
Forgetting to lock the quill, however.... I've done that. And more than once.
As said, at least it's a decorative/function feature rather than a critical dimension, just make it wider, and say you did it so you can get a better hold!

Peter, I think I have a 5/8" or similiar ball mill if you want to borrow one to deepen the groove.

Thanks for that kind offer Michael, however the job is done now. I just widened the groove with a couple of passes. Not as pretty as I had originally anticipated but will do the job.
