Good grief, how much are you using ! You only need a wipe down the tool or across the area where you are going to machine. I often just brush the cutter flutes, the heat causes it to migrate down into the cut. If you want cooling then flood and use a water based cutting oil, now that will get thrown about !

Ha ha yeah but I was referring to soluble oil mix going everywhere.
With the Trefolex I just brush a little on, but the job, vise and parallels get pretty sticky, and so does the swarf which makes it hard to vac up later on.
By comparison, aluminium is a breeze cos the wd40 dries off and makes vaccing easy.

Finally got around to fixing the tailstock issue. (it does take me a while sometimes), (usually). lol
So, it didn't need machining at all. The crinkle paint is pretty tough and I thought it was paint over rough cast. Well, it is rough cast but not as rough as it first appears.
Anyways, I started scraping at it and found the crinkle would chip off with a little effort to reveal an already machined surface. Just had to use a file on one edge where they left a small burr and the blocks fitted straight in.

Well that saved some muckin' about with a fancy setup.
