Hi Aaron,
Kind of you to offer collet help, but I am happy to buy new in this case because (from experience) the one rough collet in a used set is the one you want most.
And thanks for your tip about Reship. I'll follow that up.
Cheers, Bill

M&G is the Australian equivalent of CTC in terms of quality. Don't even bother looking any further....
Conflict of interest declaration: I'm so impressed with Felix's tools, I'm about to become and agent with an eBay shop.Cheers, Joe

Hi,
I found this U Tube video on cheap Er32 collets interesting.
Hopefully it may be of assistance to you or someone else.

That YouTube collet test is totally meaningless and uninformative! The methodology will give HUGE errors no matter what the collet chuck and collet brand is.
He shows 0.02 about 30 mm from the bearing to be his spindle runout. Then he adds about 50 or 60mm distance with the collet chuck. The spindle runout is now measured at 80 or 90mm from the bearing and should be expected to be 3 x 0.02 guess what it is! the "High spots" even line up. He seems surprised... Tells me that the chuck has almost no runout at all. The he inserts the collet and some stock and adds another 50 or 60mm of distance from the bearing.... see the pattern? And he blames Banggood for the doubling of the "bad" reading.... I would have expected the runout to be 0.18mm and so it is... So again no apparent runout on the collets and collet nut.
So be careful when listening to crappy YouTube reviews! And please don't propagate misinformation like that. It only makes people disappointed with their expensive precision purchases when they find the same problem....Cheers, Joe

Hi Guys,
At the end of the day, if the collets you get are badly fettled you can expect the sort of issues depicted. Once properly cleaned and deburred the collets should meet the specifications.
I very recently received three ER32 collets from ARC Euro, the instant you take them out of the box you can see the difference in quality ! The Arc Euro ones are not only much better finished, they are a nicer package all round. In terms of price they are about a fifth more expensive than buying them from China, but I got them in my hands within three days of ordering. That alone is worth the slight extra cost.Best Regards:
Baron J.

I just received a set of ER11 collets today from Felix (M&G) for my new toy "Dremel on Steroids" I built. No swarf, no burrs, no faults I can find - as I've come to expect from his tools.... and CHEAPER than from China! Go figure.... He buys 'semi-finished' tools, rejects non-compliant batches outright and then does the finish grinding in his own factory, with 'western-style' quality control. Anything rejected ends up in scrap - no back-door trading at lower prices.... He worked in the US and Germany in his career and understands what frustrates us.... That's why I like his tools.
Cheers, Joe

Seems like M&G’s website is down.

Try hitting refresh on your browser. His site NEVER loads for me first hit, always have to refresh - then it works alright, apart from the fact that the shipping is still way up the creek after however many years its been.
Seems illogical to me to have an online shop where the postage doesn't work properly, and you have to email him to get the right postage, but there you go. Maybe he's concentrating on his 4 (soon to be 5?) eBay sellers instead.

Just email him a list of what you want, and ask for shipping. When I bought that ER40 D1-4 chuck, full set of ER40 collets and Joe ER40 collet block, his website wanted something like $75 shipping to go across Melbourne. Emailed him, and postage cost $15.
I have to suspect though, given it's been like that for a number of years, that some people must just be paying it. I did ask him about it when I emailed for postage, and his excuse was something about the website not actually being for Australia? Made no sense to me.
