    Hi Russ,

    I wonder if by any chance that it is a staple pusher used for inserting staples for securing fencing wire to wooden posts !

    Could it be a tool for lacing the leather belts as in line shaft machines???

    I'm thinking something Iike that, although smaller than fencing staples
    Maybe staples to hold pictures in frames?

    Thanks kryn, I can't quite visualise that - the cross slot doesn't seem to fit.

    Handle does look as though its been struck with the likes of a hammer/mallet.
