Need help identifying my new to me lathe
I just got this lathe. The only markings on it is VS1236. It is a 12 inch swing by 36 inches between centers. Someone has rubbed out the manufacturer's name in front of the VS1236. I know it is Chinese made, maybe ENCO. If anyone has any information on it such as the manufacturer or owner's manual, parts list, I would like to here from you.

Welcome to the MetalWork forums.
You have found a great bunch of blokes who are more than willing to help. We are mainly Australians but have a good measure of people from all over the planet.
The MetalWork forums are much more than just lathe work. To check out all we have in our site, just go to the top of the top LH side of this page and Click:
FORUM with the down arrow.
That will give you a pulldown menu from which you can click the top title FORUM HOME
A page will appear where you can scroll down it and see our help pages and sub forums.
I would ask that you peruse rules-the TOU's, Terms Of Use- that are at the top of the scroll down page.
One last thing. Be aware that sometimes when you try to post photos or links in the first ten posts, the anti spam stuff sometimes ( not always but sometimes) kicks in. Sometimes you may have to wait until the post gets moderated.Typically not a long time.
Hopefully some of our blokes can assist with info on your lathe.
I have taken the liberty to remove your email and phone no from the post. It is not a good practice invites attention from the bad guys, spammers and other fraudsters. Anybody here with info for you, will leave it on line or PM you.
PM me if you really insist on having it there and I can put it back.
Welcome again,
Grahame

This might help, https://www.facebook.com/pages/categ...5907160340487/
It looks like a variable speed lathe, Morton might be a rebadged Jet lathe

Hi Michael, and WELCOME to a TOP FORUM. I can't help you with an ID of your lathe, but it would be sold in the US by several different sellers.
Check out https://littlemachineshop.com/info/minilathe.php they do spare parts for smaller lathes and it may be sold under a brand that they cater for.

Hi Michael,
Heres a link to a Morton page that Shedhappens mentioned , that has the address of the manufacturer - I think?
The Frejoth address has an email. It is right at the bottom of the scroll down page. The lathe shown in this link is a modern one of course but the email address displayed might yield fruit.

I don't know what success you might have but its certainly worth a try sending them the pics and asking if they have a manual for it..

It’s an older Frejoth. When the affordable import lathes started appearing nearly all of them were made by Frejoth and badge engineered to order. Frejoth appear to have moved away from the consumer grade market since the race for cheaper took off.

I got it mounted on my bench today. I hope to have it under prower over the weekend. It was under power when I went to pick it up so I know it will run.
