I have come across some peg board (metal type) that is a bit ratty, but will scrub up OK. I have also spotted a 104pc assortment of hooks etc for said pegboard on ebay, for under 30 bucks... so way better than the bunnings offer of 2 hooks for 6 bucks.

The problem with sets (as I found out) is that one ends up only finding uses for half of the hooks.

BTW Bunnings as a 47 piece set for $15 including a neat rack for open ended spanners.

I am a bit short on wall space, I have a sidchrome wall unit type tool cabinet that is bolted to an A frame that is on castor wheels
It has a home made shadow board below that and a shelf below that. It is handy as it can be put where ever you are working and
pushed out of the way also if need be.

Rare earth magnets work great for tools like double open ended spanners.

Not really sure about magnets. They tend to magnetise the tools and then swarf sticks to them too much for my liking.

I have found the same thing. Pick up a spanner and remove the swarf before its used. Annoying.

Now I've cleaned up the area where I want to re-setup a workbench and tool wall, with all the junk removed I've realised it's actually a pretty substantial area - this is the 2400 wide bay where the workbench will go:
    IMG_3128.jpg

Current plan is to hang 1800x1200 17mm formply vertically between the purlins at the back, then use shelf rails to make the benchtop. Still tossing up what to do on the back wall in terms of pegboard, shadowboard etc., but I'm realising there's a lot more wall space than tools to hang there (this is a very lightly-equipped workshop).

This is the bay to the left - I'm thinking of leaving this clear of any more shelving with a view to putting a bench grinder and drill press there. Will put up some formply at the back there too.

This leftmost bay is how the other two were originally set up, with a bench at about 900 - the others had shelves below, all covered in masses of junk.

    Sideways pic strikes again.
Anyway, got this mounted. Old retail hanging stands. Just screwed to the wall supports like a true chippy.
Will shop for some pegboard pegs in the coming days.

This is where I'm up to:
    IMG_3201.jpg

Formply is up, I've put a few shelving rails back in place, there's a bunch more, so I can add shelves below the bench, but at 600 deep I've found that you're not really using the full depth, so tossing up what to do there.

Also need to mount this Record No. 5 vice:
    IMG_3201a.jpg

It used to be in the middle of the bench. Tossing up if it might be better mounted to the left end of the bench, closer to the blue column.

Bunnings flog an 1800x410 metal pegboard that I'll put up and then work out what to put on it.

Sparky should be around in the next day or two to run 2 circuits - one for all the 10A GPOs and one for a 15A GPO.

This sideways pic thing really rustles my jimmies.

Turns out the cheap-o (free) peg board I used has 25mm spacing... but over a span of a 300mm or so, it goes a bit awol. So I have drilled off the spot welds on the screwdriver holder and the flat parts tray, and installed them with new properly spaced holes and push rivets.

    Getting way more organised now.

The innuendo was there from the beginning.

Some of you may have heard of Mr Studley and his tool chest.

It’s a very inspiring thing, I actually think it’s a work of art.

So it really depends how far you want to go.
I'd end up with an empty storage cupboard...cos nothing would go back in there as its all too hard....lol
