Default Burnerd Dividing Head - Price estimate

    Hi

I have someone who is interested in my Bridgeport and I have a 300mm x 300mm angle plate with a Burnerd Dividing Head attached to it.
As I can't find one on the internet I was hoping someone might let me know what a fair asking price for both items would be. Thank guys.

    Marion,

From the pics above, you have an angle plate, a dividing head, and a Bernerd 3 jaw chuck assembled as a unit, plus the matching set of reverse jaws for the chuck, a driver plate for the dividing head (mounts in place of the chuck if needed) and some additional dividing plates for dividing head.

I doubt that you find the whole set on the internet anywhere for reference. The dividing head itself seems to be a reasonably complete unit, but I don't believe that it is a Bernerd brand as I am not aware of them producing dividing heads, their reputation is for manufacturing chucks. Is there another brand visible anywhere on the dividing head itself that might identify it? The presence of the driving plate (same colour as the dividing head and in the box with the spare chuck jaws) suggests that there may be a matching tailstock/centre unit for the dividing head, the heads are generally sold either as a set with drive plate and tailstock, or as the dividing head alone.

Value of the dividing head will be enhanced by the range of divisions that can be made with it, which depends on the number of dividing plates and the range of divisions on each. From the pics I can identify the mounted plate with 6 divisions, another loose plate with 7 divisions, a smaller bagged plate with 3 divisions, and maybe another bagged plate beneath that. If the divisions on each plate are not duplicates, the set should provide a fairly comprehensive division range for the dividing head.

I accept that this is just giving you a background into what you have, rather than a reasonable selling price, but it should help to get you started. As I said in my other reply, getting things ID'd and matched up can be important.

the dividing head looks quite a lot like a Tom Senior Dividing head, it looks good but looks like the sector/pointer is from hare-forbes. Generally these would come with a tailstock and they do make the dividing head more useful. good to have the a chuck with it. price depends whos asking and how much someone wants it. Probably around $350 to $400 with chuck - is fair but you see some go for much less and some people ask much more. (Its not a hercus dividing head which would command much more)

Older angle plates not really worth that much.

    cheers

Until you need one - I 'need' one that's 200 x 400 x 600 long, preferably at least 20mm thick and 25mm would be better.

I expect I'll have to make it myself as usual.

It is quite legitimate to ask the potential value of metalwork related item in the general forum.

However if this item is to be for sale, it belongs in the METALWORK - Machinery, Equipment, MARKET sub Forum. In other general Metalwork threads there's been potential purchase questions about machinery. Not in the general Metalwork thread please- take it all to the METALWORK - Machinery, Equipment, MARKET sub Forum.

Also please read through the guidelines that apply -some thing which all posters in that forum are asked to do before posting.

    https://metalworkforums.com/f90/t202688-market-rules

What I am concerned about is :
The milling machine which appears in Machinery, Equipment, MARKET sub Forum also shows up in a Machines4u.com.au advertisement which is something completely contrary to our guidelines. Please remove it from one or the other of these places.

Many members fail to understand the amount of problems which can be caused when machinery etc is advertised concurrently in two or more separate venues.
We can have two very unhappy buyers from separate venues unaware of each other, until that point when each believes they are the buyer for the item.

Ultimately it is left to Admin who are then asked to sort out these problems.

I need to make it very clear about this.

    This thread is now locked.

    Thank you

    Grahame
