You mention 1" pipe into a paddock and that it may serve another house later on.
You will be bitterly disappointed with the volume.
    Go 50mm in Polly.

hi, after reading all the good advice i decided to use the single tine ripper type of pipe layer, with 1-1/4 to 1- 1/2 poly heavy wall poly pipe, i can,t remember what the green stripe poly is for, but the double blue stripe is for pressure, if my i,m memory is correct. my tractor is 65hp with hi and low range , new tyres too. it should do the job ok.
    thanks for the advice.
now i will make a tine ripper pipe layer. i,m shore i have all the steel in my shed.

    Good choice

Green line poly is rural, and has a nominal rating of 600kPa (newer stuff might be 800kPa I think).

Blue line is metric, and has different PN numbers depending on pressure rating. PN12 is pretty common. Metric will have a thicker wall, and metric fittings are considerably easier than rural fittings.

    A thread dredge but still...
I had a petrol powered walk behind chain trencher. Horrible thing to use. I made a 3 point linkage attachment for the tractor. Ideally t would be a hydrostatic transmission aseven low gear is a little fast so there is a bit of riding the clutch.
