Kondia FV-1 Mill Pulley Belt Size
My Kondia FV-1 has a really tight drive belt fitting.
I cannot get the belt onto the slowest speed pulleys unless I remove one of the motor mount bolts.
The photo shows in the top right corner the head of a clamp used in place of the bolt.
The manual quotes the belt as a "V" belt A 839.
Fitted is a Gates Greenstripe XL 13A0865.
My judgement is that another 10 mm separation between pulleys would be easily accommodated, making the belt a 885.
How can my situation be so different to the documented size ?
Any suggestions ?
John.

I know in Australia our drive belts are measured on the inside, but in the USA they are measured on the outside perhaps this is causing the issue. It sounds a bit like your belt is too tight as you can't change it to the slowest speed. Is the belt tight when you change it to the other speeds ?. I tried searching for a 'A839' and a '839' Drive Belt but couldn't get anything to come up.

Here's mine. I think my pulleys look the same distance apart as yours. You could probably just get a belt that fits and forget about it.

Might be way off here but is it possible you should be using an 11A belt rather than 13A?

Thanks for the inputs.
The belt is tight for the other speeds, but manageable.
Confusion on measurement:
- metric is pitch,
- imperial is inside,
- US is outside,
- AU is inside.
Sossity is probably correct, just get a bigger belt.
I will go with my gut feeling and get something like an 885.
The 11A vs 13 A needs reviewing also.

Some manufacturers measure inside, some outside as said above. Just order the belt the next size up if you think that will fix your problem, don't sort what's the designated size.
I went to my local bearing place last week and bought 2 x 31 inch belts, they where the metric equivalent so I took my belt along to check.
Why in this day and age there isn't a standardized size I don't know.Using Tapatalk

I have the same problem on my old Hafco. Its on the roundtuit list.
The user manual has some exploded view drawings with all the parts shown and numbered with a corresponding parts list.
On the list the belt is called "Belt". No size or anything. duh. How hard would it have been when they were setting the manual up to include the belt size?

Purchased a new belt, Gates Green Stripe XL 13A0890.
This was the nearest available to the 885 estimated.
Changed the belt today.
Complete success.
Belt noise is good, changing to the lowest pulley speed is not 'easy' but quite doable.
Some of the improvement may be in the belt section.
Old is 12.1 mm wide, new is 11.9 mm.
I am sure those that have changed a belt on a Bridgeport/Clone mill would know why I have come in from the workshop and poured a soothing ale !
Keep well,
John.

A section belt should be same as all clones. Mine is an A33 which is 839mm

I changed mine recently as well. Pulled the motor off to get the old belt off. Then I remembered I had some old belts and was lucky enough to find one that was slightly longer than the hold one. Also found that the bearings in the front pulley were pretty noisy. Still turn smooth but noisy. I have since bought some new ones but have yet to fit them. The lining on one of the spindle brake shoes had come off as well which was why the brake didnt work very well. I epoxied that back onto the shoe. Works great now.
Just have to make some face pin spanners so I can replace the bearings.
