Default Anyone bought from China lately

Has anyone bought off Aliexpress recently and received their goods. As best as I can tell from a google search sea freight is starting to crank up again but what little air freight there is is taken up with high priority goods (like medical supplies).

Yes, I have just received a tool order from Aliexpress. Order was placed on 16 Feb, arrived 19 Mar, so just over one month.
I have received a few orders from China over the last couple of weeks, delivery times seem to vary between one and two months.

My latest order was placed on 12 March and is yet to depart the country.

Tracking shows orders take about 2 weeks to get on a flight and appear to be sitting in SYD for a long time before OzPost delivers.

The service in China seems to have been reasonable even with the restriction, however, over last week service in AU has deteriorated badly.
I had an item shipped from H&F in Sydney last Monday and it's still in transit (OzPost), normally that is an overnight service!

Ordered some face masks from Gympie Qld via Ebay au on Feb 4th. They are still missing.

Have some doubts about this as a real address as I believe goods are onshipped from OS .I won't make any more comment than that.

Last Banggood order took 2 months.

My latest order from China took ten days from sent to delivered. Quite quick, normally it is longer.

    Default Welding equipment from Asia

    Hello again.
During the week I spoke to a supplier of Asian welders. What was ready to ship has left and will arrive in a few weeks. To ramp up parts manufacture and load more machines will take 8-10 weeks then delivery to Aus.
We are starting to see nill stock when ordering but have been able to find other brands.
I have 2 torch suppliers quoting me this week but their product spread is small though well priced. Communication is bloody awful all the time.
From the USA I have good availability, however with the dollar falling and landing costs for $4000.00 worth of goods at $3173.88 including $474 in freight I won't go ahead with it for now.
This is the time to keep stocks of material up and throw nothing out.
    Regards

Thanks for the replies, looks like its about to get a whole lot slower with what our gov is about to introduce. Might leave any purchase until things settle down.

When you purchase from AliExpress click on the postage, this will tell you how it's sent and give you options for faster postage.

Saying that, about 20 days ago I bought limit switches, paid extra shipping for 13-20 days and they took 10 days to get a tracking number, so that didn't work.

Other sellers have contacted me after questions saying they only had curtaint days they could post etc.

I'm waiting on stuff from around the 20th of January and latter for a project, it's annoying looking in the post box and nothing is there, as I want to get it finished.

I do feel sorry for them as there income is down also and out of there control.

    Thanks Dave
A quick google search found this

About half of the air cargo carried worldwide normally flies in the belly of passenger jets rather than in dedicated freighters. But deep flight cuts in response to the coronavirus outbreak have made the market more dependent on freight haulers.
Freight forwarder Agility Logistics said on its website that China’s air cargo capacity was down 39% in February relative to last year because of the passenger flight cuts.
Apparently the number of freight only flights is increasing but I cant help thinking that it will take some time for things to return to normal.

In my mind I keep thinking we are still lucky to be getting cheap stuff from China even if it takes a while for postage.
I was looking for some plugs and sockets, on AliExpress there $7, here in Australia $39 for the same thing.
I guess as home machinist we have become reliant on cheap stuff from China, instead of paying the inflated prices here for the same product.

I have noticed some things in my cart have inflated by at least au $2, whether that's because of the Aussie dollar dropping off, or there going up in price I don't know.
I'll wait until AliExpress has it's sale in a few days to purchase anyway.

    Hi Dave, Guys,

I've noticed that prices have taken a jump quite recently, between 5 and 10 percent.
