A 6-jaw 6" chuck for my lathe ordered from China arrived reasonably quickly but the Tracking info had it waiting in Melbourne for 10 days.
My lathe just succumbed to the Virus and the DRO died. I've just ordered another one from Aliexpress and I'll let you know if/when it arrives.
Stay safe guys!

I think mine is so old they hadn't invented fuses! The failure is in the long scale reader, one of those glass scale ones. The rubber seals wore out long ago so a new DRO would be replacing everything.
One thing that has been annoying me for a while is a lot of Chinese Ebay sellers are now listing prices in US dollars. The eventual price is still OK in AU$ except, additionally, Paypal now charges a conversion fee of ~4%. I just paid EU61.60 to a German seller. Unfortunately he told me that they can't post anything from Germany due to the Virus and promptly returned my money. Paypal charged me $113.11 for the purchase but then refunded only $105.30! As a OAP, every penny counts! BarStewards.

Hi Guys,
I Emailed Banggood again yesterday about the non delivery of both orders ! This morning I've received a standard reply from them telling me that "ITS in transit" completely ignoring the earlier order which was dispatched on the 19th February 2020 and is supposed to have arrived in the UK weeks ago.
I've Emailed back asking about the earlier order. We will see...Best Regards:

I got one of 2 from one seller, it automatically got marked as I'd confirmed the order so I started a dispute, 2 days latter it arrives.
This was also from February, so it's filtering through.Using Tapatalk

Currently very very slow
Due to very limited air traffic at this point in time delivery times are very very slow.
At work, our suppliers are having big issues with commercial freight consignments (and that's not the cheap shipping options) getting chucked off planned flights in favour of medical supplies.
Delivery times are totally unpredictable at the moment and everyone just "hopes" their shipments will arrive. Predictability is totally gone ... and that's for multinational major industrial suppliers, just imagine the priority level of cheap Chinese "backload" type freight!
I am currently tracking 8 consignments coming in from China, the earliest says it "departed" on 26 March, but it still hasn't arrived in AU. I would think it has been handed to the airline and is waiting to get on a plane out of China. So one month after I placed the order the goods still haven't left China.
It's anyone's guess as to how long these shipments will take to arrive in AU.

Hi Guys,
I've got an Email back from Banggood this morning telling me that I have now have to wait upto 70 working days for delivery. No mention of the fact that they first told me it was now in the UK. Though their web site indicates that it has landed here.
I suspect that they are inundated with complaints of non delivery and are just putting off where they can !Best Regards:

To play devils advocate for a moment..
If you ordered goods from OS in the middle of a global pandemic where 90% of the world is in lock down and intercontinental transport is all but at a standstill and weren’t cogniscent enough to realise there were delays to be had, well you probably see where I’m going with this.
At a time of around 200 000 fatalities and almost everyone in the world having restrictions placed upon civil liberties to curtail more, complaints about shipping delays of cheap machining supplies for hobby use is kind of a first world issue in my books. Your opinion may (and probably will)vary.

We are here making a discussion about postage from China amongst friends and sharing our experiences.
We don't really need people telling us what the news tells us daily. We know what's going on in the world, but it's our money out there while waiting for products.
I noticed eBay and AliExpress haven't stopped selling anything out of China, just the postage price has risen.
I bought in January and February before everything was locked down. It's been good to hear and learn how others have experienced there buying from China and how the postage system is now working.Using Tapatalk

Heard somewhere that Japan is paying companies to get out of China, they don't care as to where they go, just get out of China, costing the Japanese something like 2.2 Billion Yen.
Some of the countries that are being offered are India, Vietnam, and Thailand from memory.

Must have been lucky
I ordered a 2 axis DRO and scales for my lathe from Aliexpress recently. one of the scales was a non std length so I was expecting it to take a while.
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3284...56c14c4dB4K4vy
Ordered it on 7/4/20, took them 9 days to make the scale, and ship it to Singapore, which, under the current virus conditions I thought wasn't too bad. (even though China is getting back to "normal")
DHL picked it up in Singapore around 4.00 PM last thurs (16/4/20) and it arrived at my place yesterday (22/4/20). That's pretty good going by DHL when you consider I have had stuff take 2 weeks to come from Melbourne to Newcastle - before the virus crisis.

It's not just China, Australia post is overwhelmed by the number of larger internal packages moving around the country. Two items I purchased from over east a few weeks back took 21 and 18 days to arrive. My understanding is due to reduced demand for letters AP is cutting back letter delivery to every second day and retraining 2000 posties to be van delivery drivers.
