I looked today and alot of my stuff is accepted by airline, but hasn't moved.
Other stuff in onroute to country etc but doesn't seem to move.

I noticed I went to buy some wave washers from eBay today, some are saying the 7th of May till the 27th that's a long time. Where others are saying that it's the 17th April till June the 5th, but a $0.77 postage fee.

I don't mind paying the postage fee, but have now been stung from paying an extra few dollars from AliExpress for the first time, and it took them so long to actually to get a tracking number.

I am hoping that world would go back to the way it was, stay safe guys.

Can you post a pic of one, asking as I have a few here to get you out of trouble, if you can use them?

Thanks, there just a standard HD type limit switches x4, not needing any arms or rollers etc as I'll make my own.

I bought the blue cheaper plastic type limit switches a while back, but decided they where not heavy duty enough for what I'm using them for, a crane trolley F/R -lift/lower limits.

Sorry Dave, mine are just the little micro switches that you can find on stuff like microwaves etc.

    Hi Guys,

Is this the sort of limit switch you are looking for.

    Micro limit Sw.png

There are two circlip positions on the shaft, one as shown and one behind the spring, depending upon which way you want to activate it. Pushed from the left as in the drawing. The whole thing is mounted on a thin (1 mm) thick aluminium plate, drilled and bent up so the operating shaft slides through.

As far as getting stuff from China is concerned, I'm still waiting for the Honda ignition coil I ordered five weeks ago ! I've Emailed Banggood and they have replied, almost by return, that I have to wait for 40 days to claim non delivery. Their records show that it was sent the day after I placed the order and that it has arrived in the UK.

No worries and thank you, they seem to be moving slowly each day.
There for a low overhead crane trolley and hoist l've been building. So need to be a bit more robust than the lighter weight type ones I had bought earlier.

This is the first type I bought, I used them on the mill combined gib locks, but seemed a bit light weight and sloppy for upper/lower and end stop limit switches for the crane.

Thanks mate, the places these are going this may have worked, but I wanted a more industrial type with a level arm and no wires exposed to have to cover, as most are carrying 240v.

Same as on the mill I've used either linkages or custom arms with bearings.

These limit switches all have good cord sealing, with either the standard rubber as pictured above on the blue ones, or cable glands like my first picture of the yellow ones.

I will put up both projects once finished.

Wouldn't mind seeing some pics of it when it's done, PLEASE. Is it the single pivot type of crane, or one that runs along a set of parallel rails?

Just a sneak peek picture because you asked, and we all need to see pictures in lock down. Well at least I do, lol

Just a jib crane similar to my other one I built 10 years ago, only this one is bigger and longer.
This one is made from 200UB 29kg/mtr beam 3.2m long.

It's been up since a few days before Christmas, but have been working on the remote control trolley and hoist.

I'm only rating it at 500kg as it's only for my mill and lathe, but the crane is built to well over 1000kg going from manufacturer's beam sizes.

    Hi Dave, Kryn, Guys,

I first used that limit switch design over 40 years ago for a goods lift across three levels, and the cage door detection. At the time I built them into die cast alloy boxes. The firm that I did the work for used microswitches on their products, much bigger ones, but still rated at 10 amps. I might still have a couple kicking about.

The drawing I posted uses the more modern ones, like Kryn mentioned out of microwave ovens. They are very effective and very reliable.

I also did a rotary one which used a plastic disc with a notch cut out and attached to an arm. I later modified it to use a magnet and hall effect sensor so it could be used with a 5 volt logic controller. The microswitches become unreliable when used for low voltages and almost zero current.

Noble idea ..... but ..... I find it very difficult to find any tooling that's actually made in AU. Most Australian based businesses import their products from China. Unfortunately, over the past few decades China has become the factory of the world, manufacturing poor quality as well as top quality products for the western world.

Let's hope the current crisis triggers a major re-think of our long term manufacturing strategy.
