Advice re patinas & using Copper B metal coating & Tiffany Green Patina
Hi,
Working on this piece for a charity event. Talking about the eye sculpture. (Inspiration from Roosterscreations on YouTube)
It will be used as a hanger for a wall hanging made out of pallet material. (Inspiration from Martin Saban Smith on YouTube)
I am undecided as to leaving it as is or using a copper or bronze metal coating on the scales then applying a green patina.
My thoughts on adding the coating was to create contrast between the eyelids & the scales.
The other option is to just apply the copper & clear coating.
An instructional video talked about using some sort of primer before applying the coating. My plan was to leave some silver as well for contrast.
There was another segment where they had a spray to apply to halt/neutralise the patina at the stage that you wanted.
Has anyone done this & will a typical clear acrylic spray coating achieve the same outcome.
Sorry no idea how to fix the sideways image.
I may redo the hanging as I could have done a better job of blending the colours.
Any comments for improvements gratefully accepted.

Hi Yaryetnom,
Placing the whole item in a bath of copper sulphate solution will give it a coat of copper !
The item will have to be scrupulously clean though or it will look patchy, then you could apply the green selectively where its wanted. Then clear coat to stop the copper going green with age.Best Regards:

Thanks for the replies.
I have some of the Barnes copper effects paint and a green patina fluid.
I will do a trial scale & test what happens with a clear coat.
I only want to colour the scales.
I have painted the eye with enamel paint & added some gold metallic fingernail polish as a highlight. When it dries I intend to apply a clear resin coat to just the eyeball to create depth. (I hope)
The other option is to leave the scales as they are.
