    Default Dawn Red?

Where can I get a paint similar to Dulux Indian Red from?
I have contacted Dulux they said this is a discontinued colour.
The colour I am looking for is same as Bobs vice in this post.

Last time I was at Supacheapauto they had a bewildering selection of colours.
I just checked their website and it says they had 48 different reds but I would not trust a web colour so you'd have to take a look.
Some of their engine paints might come close.

The Bunnings website has it as a stocked item https://www.bunnings.com.au/dulux-25...e-pot_p1409362, but any paint shop should be able to mix up the colour from the code

Dulux saying its a discontinued color. If they know its discontinued, doesnt it suggests they know the colour coding for it?..and that means they should be able to match it???

if not get/find something close and take it in and get them to scan it...they can then make it.

About 10 years ago I was using a fair bit of a Dulux color called Volcano red. Dulux said it had just stopped making It but to check non Dulux stores as stock takes 12 - 18 months to run out. I managed to find a couple of cans in a home decor shop. Maybe we should stock up while we can?

Here are my adventures in trying to match Dawn Red with off-the-shelf paints:

There have been a few since then, I need to update it...

    Default Dawn Red?

I bought White Knight Indian Red from Bunnings in a spray can only about a month ago for my Dawn vices. As far as I’m aware it’s still stocked as a traditional colour in some brands.

That's the Pantone code. The Dulux code is 50101

What year is that code for? I have put a 2015 next to a 2017 and they were different shades, and quite different to a pre-metric Dawn red. Left me concluding that there’s no golden “Dawn” shade, just what they were using at any given point... and that in the last 100 years it very likely changed a few times.

I bought a can of White Knight Indian Red from Bunnings back in March, now I wanted to paint my other vice, Bunnings in Alice informed me that it is now discontinued.

J.C. said he has used Dupli colour Barossa red, which is not available in either Supercheap or Repco here in Alice.
Supercheap has a Ford Barossa red which looks quite brown by the colour chart.

I have another one to add to the page, it’s an automotive colour that SCA etc should be able to mix up. I’ll see about adding it today

I’m likely going to Bunnings at Parafield sometime today, I’ll see if there’s any White Knight Indian Red on the shelf.

My experience trying to match Kinchrome colours recently was that it’s near on impossible to have colours matched to Pantone numbers, very few places do it. Having a local supplier number or Base/Tint sequence makes it sooooo much easier.
