Mill table width information needed
I'm trying to design up a device* to fit on a mill table. My mill is larger than most home mills with a table width of 235mm, so I'm not sure it is the best thing to base a design around. I would like to know what others have got. If you can respond with
- table width
- T-slot width
- T-slot centres
That would help me understand what is out there.
As per the rotary table sizing rule, I don't want to be specifiying a base size that overhangs enough to reduce travel.
*Encouraged by the success of the free vice, I'm trying to knock a few more projects off the 'if only I had something that would hold this' list. This is to make work holding easier for me on those odd occasions but if I'm going to have parts cast, I may as well make them so that they have wide utility.

My RF 45 is 730x210, 4 slots on 50mm centres, nuts are 14mm wide.
The RF 30 round column I moved on had the same table, and I believe the RF 46 also shares the same table.

That's the problem - if I worked on the full range of equipment available then I could have anywhere from a table 150mm wide to 400 or perhaps even 600mm. At least doing things this way gives me a chance of working out what the common sizes are.
Right now with 2 data points (3 if you include me) it is shaping up that 200mm is a nice number

Hi Michael,
My two mills have the following;
ZAY 7045 (common 45 size Chinese geared head mill):
table width: 240mm
T slot size: 15.8mm (5/8")
Spacing 60mm x 3 slots
Pacific FTV-2 (AKA Lagun FTV-2):
table width: 230
T slot size: 16mm
Spacing 60mm x 3 slots
Hope this helps...
SimonGirl, I don't wanna know about your mild-mannered alter ego or anything like that." I mean, you tell me you're, uh, super-mega-ultra-lightning babe? That's all right with me. I'm good. I'm good.
