    Charts seem to say 600-1000fpm
I've seen 50mm Al cut with a normal circular saw...which could be up to 10000fpm.
Might depend on the thickness and teeth/inch of the blade.

I've cut ally on a woodworking bandsaw, not sure how fast it was going, but definitely faster than any metal bandsaw.

    Hi Guys,

I've got a 10" inch chop saw that runs at 2800 rpm that is specifically intended for aluminium and has a cutting capacity of 100 mm square. I also cut 20 mm thick aluminium sheet on the vertical wood bandsaw without too much trouble.

You do need to be aware that depending upon the size of material you are cutting, it can get very hot quite quickly.

    Depends on the thickness.

I regularly cut 6 mm Al on a 3000 fpm WW bandsaw.
I use a wax lube - ie ores the was onto the cut line and sometimes onto the blade.

Cutting thicker than this at this speed can start to gall in the cut.
    1000 fpm should be OK

With the tables I cut up to 30 mm thick but I do use a composite blade - negative kerf teeth.
With a WW blade it is possible for the saw to grab the work and tear out teeth.
The teeth go flying off around the workshop like little bullets and the tables saw bucks around across the floor due to unbalanced blade.

    Hi Bob, Guys,

My chop saw came supplied with all HSS blades ! Its only later that I fitted a TCT blade. The original wax lubrication doesn't work very well with the TCT one, the blade doesn't get hot enough to keep the wax liquid, so I use a WD40 spray can.

I have been known to snap the teeth off the other side to balance a TCT !
