HM-48 Mill Oil points?
Not wanting to use the mill recently without oil on all surfaces which require it, I used my ML& Nito32 as the oil plunger was full and only one I have atm.
Before I get into more work I need to acquire a second oil pump type unit, locate ALL the nipples seems I need to modify the DRO on the X axis to be able to gain access without the need to constantly remove it a note to H&F
I have read the manual not one word of locations of these points however they are noted in the Parts list. Wish they supplied an oil pump unit with the machine trying to find a decent size one to suit all access points not going well.

I've removed a factory installed DRO bracket (HM52 bought 10 years ago, y axis) and drilled a hole through it to access the oiling point directly behind it.
Trivial, but the lack of thought is annoying. It sounds like they've not learned much.
Can't help with oil point locations sorry.

Go onto AliExpress, they have kits with everything needed to take the hassle out of it.
The kits range from around 70-80 Australian dollars for a manual pump with everything.
The price only starts going up with the style of pump, eg electric fully automatic etc.
When I seen them, I thought finally a seller putting together kits at really reasonable prices, which saves us money on postage buying everything individual.Using Tapatalk

I'm using a standard type oil can, the nozzle is rounded and has a 1.8mm hole, works OK on the ball oilers.

Thanks gents as much as I'd love an automated system I'll be sticking with the oil can/s I think or the pump type if I can locate another one.

Oil points
Wipe of the grit with an old rag, cup your fingers filled with 3 squirts and rub it up against the lower bed faces, dirt blown into the shed is a killer.

20 years on from making my own idea of mix using 10-20% oil mixed with kero and sprayed onto table and any other shiny surface using a $1 spray bottle.
The kero evaperates and leaves a thin film of oil, which protects it and is easily wiped off if needed to set a job up on the table.
I found using oil straight is too thick and messy to remove and you go through a heap of rags.
If your not using it much straight oil would be better though.
Just for anyone reading along needing to store a machine for a long time, grease everything, ways, table surfaces etc
I did this and 3 years later it looked like the day I put it there, and this was stored in a shed that was damp in the winter and humid in the summer, cracked concrete floor etc.Using Tapatalk

Among oiling and cleaning after each use I cover machines with cheap tarps plastic $2 shop type, this i find keeps dust etc off surfaces which holds moisture forming rust. I prefer cloth backed covers like table cloths but finding hard ti get atm the clth used toward machine keeps condensation from forming and dripping.
The kero mix sounds greqt but having had 2 bad experiences personally & seeing how tge oil soaks in and retains its flash point almost killing mates mum & sister. I use kero sparingly.

Thanks to a FB group pointing me to the Grizzly site for its similar model manual it covers a great deal more than the H&F one.

They have had there manuals online for over 15 years that I know of.
Just recently I have downloaded the taper attachment ones, it shows clear details of the teliscopic lead screw I need to make, don't get that sort of details in any Aussie sellers websites.Using Tapatalk

Got to think how USA works n oo unions, no OH&S, people have to make their $$$$ anyway they can. Where as for someone like H&F to hire/contract someone to write and produce the manuals would be costly. Firstly they need qualifications, standing with in the industry and able to get it done asap. Insyrance coverage etc etc if contracted.
I know I had trouble keeping up technical writting Ambulance user and parts manuals back in the 90s. That was contract.
It should be the manufactures who produce them not the importer or reseller by the way.
Friends son was invited to write up NSW Paramedics manuals 3 years work @$350k a year.
