I cannot picture a time, when one us will take a long trip to pick up an old lathe in one of these vehicles.
Perhaps the phone will ring in Elon Mush's office and it will be Batman- wanting his ute back!

Bit sad really. Looks like them car designers have run out of ideas...
...or more likely Tesla caint afford the tooling to make a decent looking ute..

The chief designer is Franz von Holzhausen (ex VW/GM and Mazda, and now chief designer at Tesla) is no fly-by-night designer, but these days it's not just about "design" but making something different that is going to catch the eye. Tesla would also have had significant input from marketing strategists and shrinks on the design. These days any publicity is good.
I'm neutral about the design and more interested that it adds to the range of electric vehicles as there will be a number of conventionally shaped eTrucks available in the next few years.

Unfortunately, e-trucks will be little more than a gimmick until there's a major breakthrough in battery technology. They might be fine for site managers and tradies who don't need to carry much around, but as soon as you hook up a few tons of trailer the business case falls apart pretty quickly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4W-P5aCWJs
Also bear in mind that the Cybertruck will likely end up in the medium-duty truck class, so it's going up against the likes of the F-250 and Ram 2500 which are vastly more capable machines.

Most ‘trucks’ never carry a real load ever.
Just look at the huge number of Ford XR6 and XR8 Utes plus the GM equivalents sold here.
Dont ask me how I know, even with an Al tray my XR6 was useless for weight and clearance
Now with their demise the big Jap double crap tough trucks for wankers to take the kiddies to skool in.
They’ll sell a heap of these. My Canadian bros in law will buy one each just like the Hummer and the smart cars!? You couldnt get snow tyres for the smart cars, they did a few cute 360s before moving onto the next latest toy that every wealthy farmer needs.

Calling a ute that's built on a sedan platform a truck is pretty generous, they're basically a 2-seat station wagon with leaf springs. I'd be hesitant even to call the 4x4-based utes (Ranger, Amarok, Hilux, etc.) trucks.
The Cybertruck is quite squarely aimed at the American-style full-size pickup truck, which is another size above the 4x4-based class.

Until they start making electric cars that have 3 pedals and sound better than a tram, I'll stick to burning dinosaur juice
