Bijur one shot metering proportioners
Hi all,
For some time I have been looking at replacing the one shot metering valves on my mill. I have ultrasonically cleaned them to an inch of their life but I suspect they need replacing. A single pull on the lube pump seems to take 1/2 a day for the oil to ooze out of these No.3 oilers, perhaps a bit quicker with ISO15 hydraulic oil but still, It seems a bit slow.
So far I can only find two places that stock them for a reasonable price; Arc Euro Trade and also an eBay store in the US. The US ebay site has them for US $5.00 for two which is about as cheap as you can get them but by the time you ship them here, the price goes up. Is there anywhere in Aus that sell these or similar items?
Cheers,

Thanks Baron, thanks Dave.
I'm glad I asked!
Baron, I cleaned my valves in an ultrasonic cleaner using acetone and heat. It certainly improved them but not to what they should be. I will try the method you posted. Failing that I will jump on Aliexpress.
Cheers,

Hi Baron,
I have boiled the out of these valves and injected/forced acetone and turps through them and boiled again. Tomorrow I will inject/force brake clean through them and then re-boil the crap out of them. It gets to the stage where it no longer becomes ecconomical to try anything more. I can purchase a set of six for $US13 (including delivery) from Aliexpress. Only reason I persevere is cause I hate throwing stuff out AND I like trying stuff...
I will report back tomorrow...

I bought some replacements some time ago for my lathe but never got to use them as they are a US thread and the lathe fittings are British. Just something to watch for.
Could not find anyone selling metering valves with a BSP thread at the time.

Yea, mine are M8x1. Everything on this mill is metric. The zerk lube fittings on the knee and knee leadscrew are M8x1.25 which makes it a PITA if I want to add them into the lube system.

Thanks Dave.
Well, after another treatment of boiling soapy water over the stove, then another ultrasonic cleaning and finally some flushing with brake cleaner using some extra pressure from an air compressor, I finally got a result that I'm happy with.
They all seem to flow roughly the same amount of oil, so happy with that too.
For anyone with an expensive machine or a machine that does a lot of work, I would not suggest this, just buy new. This is because ultimately, once they are installed, it's difficult to know if they stop working.
For anyone who doesn't mind spending some time in between other stuff, or can t find the exact same thread or fitting or can't be bothered waiting 4 weeks for delivery, its well worth a go.
