More shaper work and Clarkson grinder.
SAM_0550.jpgSAM_0549.jpg Just a short note in my saga with the T & C grinder. The pics show the finished sub plate, except de burring. I can never get the work head where I need it. It's either too close or too far from the wheel. This plate allows me to mount it where convenient. The plate can be mounted as in the pic or at 90 deg. Odd spacing of the slots prevent the holes not lining up. I've also shown the spacer plates needed to go over the alignment keys of the workhead and centres.
The hot rolled 150mm plate was a horrible shape to begin with.
More to come.

The finish on those plates is certainly very nice.

Better finish.
Hi from Bc.
A much better finish can be achieved with a shaving tool. I just didn't have the time to do another pass. For fine cuts to improve accuracy or finish I lock the tool slide, then raise the table against a dial indicator. Shaving tools can take 0.5 thou reliably without tearing the surface. Depends on the steel of course. Stoning the tool maker a big difference.
