    Default beautiful

I can do up some sets for others if there's interest - I'll end up adding them to the 3D designing/printing website once I have tweaked the design a bit more.[/QUOTE]

Talk about putting someone on the spot.

JC can't put his website here in a post - other wise he would get in the doo doo.

What he can do, is put his website link into his profile, should he choose to do it.

Ok, may be I jumped the gun a bit and assumed that JC was loading to his own website.

If it had been posted here that would have got him into strife as per the TOU's and self promotion etc etc.
Again I was trying to be proactive and not wish anyone to get into strife promoting thier own website.

If the website is not JC s and it does not compete with this website ,that's OK to do.

Sorry if I mis understood .

    Hi JC.
My daughter is always hassling me to give her something to print.
I'd be keen to print some tap boxes - did you end up uploading the designs somewhere?

I like the one that combines the drills as well as the taps. But I think it needs to be able to accommodate Taper, Intermediate & Plug taps.

    Default pardon my ignorance...

sorry to sound dopey, but are these made on a 3D printer? not fabricated? I saw someone mention 'filament' is that the actual plastic element that gets put on? these are GREAT by the way, they are excellent, I can think of a hundred I would want made.

I end up selling the stuff I design and make through a website my wife and I run - I don't release the STLs, sorry.

Think of it a bit like MIG welding something one flat layer at a time - there's a reel of plastic which gets fed into a hot nozzle that moves across the bed, laying down a layer of plastic one after another. It's surprising how much overhang you can get away with - it is a fiddly process, though having a better quality printer in the first place makes a big difference to how much of a headache you end up with. I re-grease the bearings after every 500 hours of printing or so, otherwise nil maintenance is needed.

Wow you must do a lot of printing! What sort of 3D printer do you have?

I have a couple but I really only utilise the Prusa i3 Mk3S - the cheaper ones that don't do things like auto bed levelling are a relative hassle. The Prusa has been printing 24/7 for days at some points and has never given me trouble. On average I suppose we do 10 hours of printing a day, but it can be 24 some days and other days when we're out a lot it's less (can't empty the print bed to start another run if nobody is home).

It's not quite as satisfying as making something with your own hands but as my arthritis gets worse I find I can modify the desktop computer to adapt more easily than I can the workshop, and there is something kinda fun about telling the printer to print something you designed and it just appears... time after time... without complaint.

Those Prusa's have been around for a long time and look like a good way to get into 3D printing. Looks like they are decently priced with lots of support around for them.

No dramas - thanks for clarifying.

Maybe put a link to your website in your profile as Grahame suggested earlier (or whatever method fits with the forum rules) - so those who want to purchase some can find you.
