Waldown gurus... what do I have here?
This was bought used in the 80s and has sat effectively unused until today when I picked it up.
I get the feeling that some parts of it aren't original, but I don't know enough about the early Waldowns to be certain. Any idea what model it is, how old it is etc? Looks to be MT1 but I have not had the chuck off to verify that.

That’s a bit like what my wife said when I told her I was going to pick it up but she was less polite about it...

No idea about Waldowns, but looks like a nice old one, and not being used for so long even better.
I had 3 drill presses, gave my son one so down to 2.
Still have 2x Douglas shapers and don't really have the room, one day I'll get rid of one, or make more room lol.Using Tapatalk

Lots of bits missing though - the depth dial, motor mount and bound to be others. Looks like it has been stripped for parts. Some bits can be recreated but the table and base will be hard to find.

As Micheal says...base and table will be hard to find...
The front pulley guard is same as mine.

I kept a brace of Douglas shapers until last week.
Here is their last day together, I have something new coming to fill the spot.

The base plate also looks non original but I reckon the most critical piece missing is the motor pulley, You can't just use any stepped pulley.
At the mens shed we had a Waldown with only one pulley and I thought I had found a pulley for the motor but it was different enough that the belt tension had to be adjusted on moving to a new pulley position.
Fitting a single motor pulley and using a 3P motor and VFD may be the simplest solution

We have one of those at work, yours is definitely missing a lot of bits.
It's a 3-pulley, 2-belt drive, so unless you have the intermediate pulley and associated mountings (it's on a cam action for belt tension), Bob's idea of a VFD is the way to go.
