    Default Tool Suppliers

I'm looking for a decent lathe / milling tool supplier of mid to upper range quality. I'm based in Perth Western Australia. At the moment I'm chasing MT3 Collet chuck set, centre drills and end / slot drills. I can get everything local from H&F, but would like to save a few $$$ for more goodies. Any positive recommendations would be much appreciated. Cheers.

So you want to buy stuff cheaper than Scary Forbes, then you will be very likely just buying garbage.

Thought that scary forbes was the el-cheapo of all el-cheapos.

Yeah I agree, as long as you plan ahead it's usually 2-3 weeks delivered, but at 1/4 of the price it's worth in Australia.
I noticed lately that AliExpress has different shipping methods if you click on shipping, some are as low as 5-7 days delivery if you want to pay the extra price shown.

I've been buying lathe and mill tooling from Wenling Precision Tools on AliExpress for the last 4 or 5 years, ever since CTC moved to Europe. They are yet to disappoint me. Plan ahead, delivery is typically 2 to 3 weeks.

These cutters aren't cheap but the are good quality and you can chose how hard you want the carbide to be. You did mention mid to upper quality, but the price is definitely up there compared to unspecified chinese cutters.
The small solid carbide boring bars are great for small holes and give a really fine finish at high speed. keep them sharp and you can take off tiny amounts with great finish. I bought some second hand without realising what they were but they were so good I got another smaller one from this lot. I couldn't justify the cost of a big one but the small sizes are worth it in my opinion.
I also got a 0.2mm slitting saw which was very expensive and arrived broken. I just sent them a message with a picture and they sent me a new one, no problems. Not fast delivery though, probably 2~3 weeks again.

Upper end tooling at less than HAFCO prices, sorry but your objectives are mutually exclusive in my opinion.

    Pretty much covers it.

Like most of the others I buy from overseas now. Sometimes it can be a bit hit and miss but if you follow the links others have supplied you should be ok.
If you have the time ebay or gumtree can be good. I have picked up some very good second hand or NOS stuff cheap.

I have bought a clamp and a second hand coolent from H&F but no tooling. Last time I needed Garnet for blaster I went to them because the last supply shut shop.
There is Fiora Machinery in Cannington. They use to sell a good range form H&F standard and up but it could get expensive.
Ron Macks machinery in Hector St Osborne Park sold quality tools. Manly commercial and expensive. Neither of the last two I have been too for years.

I will have to try Tooltec.

Thanks to everyone that took the time to give useful, positive advice.

With the recommendation from Mark I called into Tooltec, their office is only 11k's from home, and purchased everything that I needed. The service was excellent. They stock a fair amount of gear at the Redcliffe office, but have a warehouse at Canning Vale where you can collect if needed quick. They supply a vast range of quality tooling at reasonable prices. A Perth based small company that have been operating for 9 years, so I was happy to spend my $$$ with them.
