Thanks for the photos Dale and thanks for taking the time to chat with Charlie. Your display was great and gave him a lot of inspiration, he spent the whole trip home talking about different ideas he wants to try out, not to mention plans for your hammer stock. As soon as we got home he was out to his forge to work on an eye drift for his jewellers hammer.
The show today was definitely one of the better ones I've been to because of the diversity of disciplines on display. There was also a lot of DIY CNC and 3D printing stuff on display. I had a fascinating chat with a bloke about a setup he had that uses a cheap webcam sensor in conjunction with a taught wire and some clever software as a very accurate machine levelling device. All in all a great day out.
Cheers,
Greg.

That’s what we like to hear! The whole purpose of the expo is to inspire people to get out the the shed and make things!

Yes that’s right it is Gary’s lathe and it is a Rose Engine Lathe built by him on a Myford ML7 bed. He was marvelling over how he had the time to do such things before he took on Eccentric Engineering.

Yes Gary has Two ML7 one that is fitted with the Rose Engine lives at home and another ML7 that has been replaced for display work with the Schaublin.
As you can appreciate moving even two ML7 machines and all the tooling etc weighs alot and takes a long time to set up and pack away one of the reasons the committee will keep it as a two day event
