Change Gears
Can anyone tell me if there is anywhere in the land down under to get gears
for a Mk1 Colchester Bantam Lathe.
I have had one quote from the UK, but at $250+ I thought a bit of searching
was needed.

colchester gears
An 18 tooth. um ok have you tried ebay uk.
Or face book groups?
how about machining down a 8 tooth spline gear to a blank.
Using that to cut the gear?
got any photos of your bantam. and your change gear set up.
id love to see that.
Steve. definitely may have 6 change gears that are 6 tooth drive splines.
I have to find them.
Is that how there there described.
Steve what would you like? what are they for?
I have at lest a dozen gears that i believe are for colchester lathes
8 tooth drive spine. between 36 and 90 tooth.
ive got a master 1 1/2 i think.
these gears where a separate thing i came apone....

I have started making a 127 tooth gear for my mates Bantam and my Harrison M250, which is the same beast really. I purchased some 100 tooth gears while in the UK last year (for the translation set) and brought them home with me, but I don't think I will be using them all, so there is one spare. I have purchased a set of involute cutters to make the gears. I suggest you do the same. The spline on the gear can be cut with a shaper. Hope this helps.
Regards,
Alan.
