    Default threading inserts. 16EL etc

anyone have a source for 11EL and 16EL threading inserts.

Ordered some LH threading tool holders form CTC so I can cut cut a thread (travelling away from chuck cos i am chicken and will probably crash the tip into the shoulder) but he doesnt have the inserts????.

One can get them from Travers but was hoping for a local if price is right.

Do you understand that using a left hand threading tool will add about 10 to 15 mm's to how close you can get to a shoulder.

    Hi Eskimo,

This is a picture of one of my insert threading tools. That gap between the work face and insert tip is just about 1.5 mm. I haven't got a picture of my other one but its identical, but faces the other way. You need both left hand and right hand inserts. Mine came from either Aliexpress or Banggood and both came with a box of ten tips plus the one in the box with the tool. I paid less than ten UK pounds each for mine.

I only have carbide insert threading tools because at the moment I find it very difficult to grind HSS tool bits the right shape and angles. By the way you will find that 55 degree carbide tool inserts very expensive ! 60 degree ones are as common as muck. (Dirt) Yorkshire slang

Tagutech make them, and General tools stock that brand, so may have them or be able to get them for you.

Eskimo when i had a look for your insert numbers i found circlip groove inserts? https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale...itch_new_app=y

Are these the inserts you are after? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3298...chweb201603_53

If not then a photo of the tool holder and a couple of measurements of the insert needed might help.

    cheers, shed

It's metalwork lingo, as in "Where there's muck there's brass".

Eskimo this how i cut R/H threads away from the chuck, there is no turning cutters upside down.
I am pretty sure the inserts that you need would be available on aliexpress but without the tool holder number or a pic or insert measurements .......
