Thread: Steam Car !

Hi Guys,

I managed to get to visit "Ingenuity" at Ironbridge, Telford UK, last week. A really interesting place to visit, particularly aimed at children of all ages. One of the exhibits in particular caught my eye.

This British built steam car. Fully restored was one of the major displays.

A couple of other items caught my interest ! This early 19th century electric motor, most notably set up for flat belt drive, obviously intended to drive a lineshaft from its flat belt pulley. Right next to it a water pump. I'm not quite sure whether it was intended as a fire pump or as a boiler fill pump, or as a sump pump for a mine, the pistons driven by the crankshaft were some distance below ground level.

I just had to take a picture of this pedestal drill. No attempt had been made to refurbish it, it was just slathered in black paint from top to bottom, the rust starting to show through in places. A two inch drill in the spindle and a table that had definitely seen better days.

If I was ever lucky enough to win Lotto that's a trip I'd like to do. UK on an "Industrial Revolution History" trip.

Goodonya, talk about rubbing salt in lol. Seriously though Id love to see all that stuff but not much chance of it happening. I don't even have any rich relos about to fall of the perch.
