Yeah, know what you mean. It does lift up if I pull up on vice handle. Trying not to do that. May go with the tab, a nutsert in the post and a knob.

You may have noticed another nutsert on side of post. There is actually two. One each side. These are there when I want to mount the bench grinder on the same top pin and lock it to the post with a couple of bolts. Will get two knobs to do this also.

Will post pics of bench grinder mounted on the weekend. It still needs a little work but you will get the idea on how it's mounted.

All this was made using a Angle Grinder, Drill, Hacksaw and a File. I desperately need a milling machine besides the Hercus which is still in pieces.

far out i love this. are the angle brackets part of the fancy grinder base.
i was thinking that you could store 2 or 3 differant grinders on the horizontal post. Either above or below the waist height 1 ready for use.

I've got more material to make another post.
I have some larger plate that may be able to accommodate 2 grinders back to back.
Grinding wheels are nice, but one dedicated for TIG tungstens, and a buffing and wire wheel would be grouse.

Grinder base was something I bought a long time ago. I added rubber feet to grinder with one bolt either side to pull it down onto the base. Angle iron brackets are some 50mm angle bolted to base. Cut the slot in these at an angle, but vertical, as I have done the vise base is better. It has a couple of rubber mounts on back of base to to seat against the face of post.
