Parcel costs from UK to Australia
This has probably been asked before but I haven't been able to find the thread. Has anyone had any dealings with a parcel sending outfit Parcels2Go.com ? I would like to have a small parcel weighing 3kg sent from the UK and have been quoted 80 Pounds to have it sent which is more than the thing is worth. I have had a look at the website mentioned here and there is a whole range of carrier companies offering rates varying from round the 20 pound mark to 70 -80 pounds, UK to OZ with tracking.

Hi Peter,
The cost of sending anything to anywhere from the UK has shot up recently ! Blame it on Brexit. I do
Prices on most things have risen considerably since this Brexit farce started, more so since Boris became PM, the powers that be insist that inflation is only 2% ! Hey a squadron of pigs just flew over.
Stuff is rising in price at 10's of pence almost every week. Some stuff like butter has doubled in price, so has cheese. I believe its the same in Europe, It certainly was when I was there a couple of months or so ago.Best Regards:

What the powers that be claim inflation as 2%, is on their purchases, everyone else pays TTN. (Through The Nose)

I was recently quoted 90 UK pounds for 4 smallish spindle bearings, 2 paper gaskets and a 7" surface grinding wheel hub. That was a deal breaker as well as the sellers screwing around.
The high price was quoted as "Australia is a remote region". And I am only 200 km from Melbourne.
I chose to purchase bearings from AU and pay the "Australia Tax". SKF bearings and a bit cheaper than the UK price including postage. Seems like other countries are starting with this price gouging.

Ebay "Precision Granite Square"
Hi all,
Been looking for a precision square on and off for a while. Maybe a grade 0 or 00 if I was to stumble on one for a good price. Anyway, there are quite a few granite "precision squares" purporting to be grade 00 for very (too) reasonable price on eBay.
So I dediced to roll the dice on one of these:
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Cake-Pan...EAAOSwZrtcZUst
The price seems to vary by quite a bit seemingly for the same item and same model number (HHIP-4901-2705) The average being around the $200 mark and the dearest being $400 from the UK.
It's hard to take it seriously especially with the word "cake pans" in the name!
I find it hard to believe it will live up to being a grade 00 square for that price but even if it's a grade 0 it's still a good deal. Question is, does anyone know of a way of measuring it's squareness without using another master square?
I know of a technique that can be used for the standard parallel steel square but being a triangular type I'm not sure if I can even measure it to see if it fulfills it's advertised promise.
My only other references I have are a very old M&W grade B square and a cast iron angle plate and a surface plate to play on.
SimonGirl, I don't wanna know about your mild-mannered alter ego or anything like that." I mean, you tell me you're, uh, super-mega-ultra-lightning babe? That's all right with me. I'm good. I'm good.

Hi Guys,
My dad used to have a cast iron one of those, my Mom used it as a front door stop for as long as I can remember. Then it disappeared when we moved house. I still remember the words on one side "Rhodes Ironworks" ! They have long gone, its a housing estate now.Best Regards:
