Best way to oil these points??
I've got these oil nipples on my Klopp shaper. I haven't had any experience with this style before - what's the best method/tool to oil them.

Look for one of these, a couple of pumps before you use your machine will do it nicely, 30 to 50 grade should be OK.
Did NOT say to buy this one below, just look for something like it closer to home.

Hi Steve,
Those oil points look similar to whats used on a Myford, but probably a bit bigger and they use a pom pom or pusher style oiler as it relies on a good friction fit between the oil gun end and the nipple, this is basically useless as oil goes everywhere except where its wanted. IMO its better to replace the oil nipples with grease nipples and then convert a grease gun to oil, plenty of guidance on the web or buy an oil gun which looks just like an grease gun anyway, but they tend to be expensive. Virtually no leakage and gets good pressure to move the oil to where its needed. If its only you using the equipment then there should be no problem mixing grease and oil points. Alan.

Hi Steve, Guys,
The Myford oil gun is a horrible device ! Its only good for leaking and pumping oil all over the place.
I've modified mine with an "O" ring on the piston and a new "O" ring inside the tip where it does a better job of sealing to the nipple, but it still leaks oil. It now runs down the shaft where it goes into the gun body.
Unfortunately I've not found anything better YET. But it is the sort of device that you need to get oil into those nipples.Best Regards:

Hi Steve, i use one these
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Pressol-...97338ef928eee6
it works well enough and does not leak, i need to get or make an angled fitting to get to a couple of nipples
that are in around the corner spots tho.

I read a suggestion from I think simonl to use a chainsaw bar grease gun off eBay. I just took the grease out and put oil in. Works a treat

Thanks everyone.
Those of you who are using grease guns - are you using the pointed nose style designed for flush fittings, and just poking it in the top of the oiler or are you replacing the oilers with grease nipples like C-47 suggested?
I think I've still got an old mini grease gun around somewhere. I've thought about throwing it out numerous times as its useless for grease, but it will save me a couple of dollars if it works with oil.

Amazingly I'd actually put the old gun with my good ones!
Probably an antique!!
Cleaned out the old hard grease and put a bit of way oil in it - works great on the oilers that are in good condition. Just pressing the external type grease nipple coupler onto the oiler. A couple of the oilers have a bit of external damage so don't seal well but I think the oil is still going in

Hi Steve,
That old gun you have will probably be OK. I put an "O" ring in the tip of mine, gives a much better seal.
All the oil nipples on my lathe are grease type, similar to yours.
PS. I found a new oil gun here in the UK, from the Ebay link, £9.00 plus P&P makes it £13.00p.Best Regards:

Hi Steve
you could make one of these though it may be redundant with your grease/oil gun.
