    Hi Eskimo,

You might have to make them !

Buy a smaller size bore, split them, clamp them together and bore to size.

I made some from two pieces of solid. Worked out OK.

not as yet, but am thinking I might make them this way..

softsolder two bit of bronze together.

Turn to size OD and ID and length

    un-sweat ?

at the speed I work you guys have plenty of time to think up other ways and to let me know

this is for the Stewart Hart overcrank engine I am making

attached are drawings that Stewart sent me....note some dimensions are incorrect..eg crank eccentrics show 10mm dia hole...should be 12...so double check

    Potty Over Crank.pdf

if anyone wants to make a bigger one I do have drawings for that as well

can anyone explain why its called and Overcrank engine

That's the way I've heard it done and the way that I would be trying first

That's how we do them at work, but we use low melt silver solder.

Hi Eskimo, that's an interesting looking engine judging by the plans. I'm looking for a next year project. Is there a picture of the completed engine by any chance. Looks like there are no castings involved or at least I didn't notice any. How far into the construction are you? Could you possibly email me the plans if their not copyrighted? How much bigger is the larger one?

    Hi Ian,

This link might be of interest.

Lots of interesting engines to play with. I think the potty overcrank engine is on there as well.

Make bush from pb barstock in lathe, leave bush on bar and put in mill and machine flat to centre of bush, put back in lathe and part off, repeat proceedure.

base and bearings mounts made...still a long ways to go...and yep no castings

here is Stewart's model on youtube

Stewart's has a governor and there is another on youtube without the governor

The plans I attached in the post above are what Stewart sent me....you should be able to save that as a file.

This is the Julius De Waal one that he basically copied from Stewart Hart's plan and scaled up...bout twice the size of Stewart's

    JDW over-crank engine stewart-hart-09-05-12.pdf

Julius has a lot of other model drawings freely available on the net...here... www.vapeuretmodelesavapeur.com
