Apologies if I've posted this in the wrong spot, but I'm after some feedback etc on grinding wheel dressers, similar to the one in the link

There quite OK for a few dressings, but the moment you wear thru that coating, then your going to need another real soon.

This type of dresser is a bit better and will last a lot longer, which will work out to be the cheapest in the long run.

Not saying to buy that one in the link, just go for that type of dresser.

I asked some guys using a concrete/road saw if they had any old blades. They gave me a few and I used a cutting disc in a grinder to cut wedges from the expansion slots in the edge to the hole. Wrap the heck out the point with duct tape or make a simple handle hammered over the point. One blade will give you a lifetime of dressing tools and a few for your pals.

I also have a small rock drilling bit end, the kind used to drill core samples, given to me. It works great too. Bigger diamonds!

    Hi oldhack
I would absolutely recommend the one with the star wheels.
Also when they wear out you can buy new star wheels...which reminds me.

I use the type the op linked to at work. I have had it for about 5 years and on average would dress the 8" wheel we use for drill grinding twice a month. it shows no sign of wearing out any time soon, should be fine for use in a home shop.
