Drill Bit Collectors!!!
Hello,
I'm a woodworker but this may be of interest here?
Today at the Mens Shed, someone left a drill bit collection. There are zillions of them and most will be used by the workers but..
Some of the drills are in their original packets (dozen), all are pre metric. Maybe someone collects these things? If so, please contact me before the men open all the packets and put them into bottles and plastic boxes.
I once saw a fellow's plane collection, so my feeling is that there is someone out there who collects drill bits. They will eventually be available for sale but this is not a for sale drills1.jpgdrills2.jpgadvertisement directed at the handyman who is looking for drills.
Thank you,
Carry pine
(And what a great relief it is to be able to type this straight out without it looking like gobbledygook.)

A few things things would help a collector (not me)
A close up of the packets - the condition of the packets can be important.
Condition - take some out of the packets so we can see what they look like.
The range of sizes available.

I don't collect inch sized drill bits, I use them!
I'll happily take a few million.

Nice of you to offer them, as you said someone must be interested.
If not I'm sure they would go great at a tool/machine museum sitting on a antique drill press table.
I picked up a heap of slitting saws years ago in there antique paper, cardboard wrappersUsing Tapatalk

I'd be surprised if anyone collected drill bits, but as Jordan said, plenty of us use them. Imperial drill bits are still very useful. Why not keep them for your Men's Shed? Just out of interest, can we please have a close-up picture of one of the packets? I'm curious as to their origin.

I collect drills and therefore paraphernalia. Including drill tills.
Can we see some better photos of the packets please and what sizes? Preferably unopened undamage/torn ones.…..Live a Quiet Life & Work with your Hands

Hi Carry, Guys,
I don't think I've ever seen drill packets with a picture of Australia on them before. Though I do have some made in Australia by Sutton. They would certainly be of historical interest. It would be a shame if the mens shed people destroyed the packets just to put them in jars.Best Regards:

Even if you use the drills it would be good if you can keep the envelopes, they should be easy enough to open without damaging them.
They certainly look to be P&N, probably from back when they were made in Maryborough, Vic, definately worth preserving.
Cheers,
Greg.
