ACME thread in Oz
Hi all.
Need a leadscrew and nut, made up for my lathe. It is 3/4 x 8 tpi..approx 1350 long...apparently an unusual pitch !
Has anyone had experience in getting one made recently ?.. cost etc

I just googled and came up with these links one is in USA.
1. http://www.mecco.com.au/acmescrews.html
2. https://www.motiontech.com.au/product_cat/trapezoidal-screws/
3. https://www.roton.com/family/acme-right-screws-and-nuts-7059433/
There is probably a lot more. Even try general engineering supply shops like BSC Bearings.

Hi Kenny,
McMaster-Carr caries these in different lengths at reasonable prices. I ship to your area all the time. Let me know what you need and I will let you know the shipping cost to you. I do not make any money on this, just doing it as a favor to you.

If it is too expensive to import a length from the states have you considered joining two Hercus leadscrews together to get your length?

I was looking around for 1ft of 5/8 10 acme thread rod, but couldn't find anything here in Australia other than one place importing it (I think it was RS) and you needed to buy the whole length at around $120 plus postage and a wait time.
I can buy it for 9 odd US dollars a foot from the US, but with there shipping it comes out around $150 all up, so I will have to make it.
I remember years ago a someone posted about a threading shop closing down with loads of stock to be moved, it would be all melted scrap now sadly.Using Tapatalk
