    Default Parkanson bandsaw

Couldn't resist picking up this cheap bandsaw.
The original photos didn't give much idea of the scale, but I started to get that "what have I got myself in for" feeling when arranging pickup and the seller said it was 1.3T !!

My ute is ok for 1.5T payload, but it's a bit higher than I'd have liked. The ute tray is 2.7m long to give some perspective...

Going to be interesting unloading it....

    Yup, it's a Landrover - a 1998 130 single cab.

Nice machine, you must have some serious cutting to do.

    Hmmmm. ....
Probably more accurate to say that I got completely caught out by the size of it !!
I visualized about 2/3 of its actual size/weight

May have to be a get it working and sell it on project, but will see.

I've just got a 7x12 as a second saw. Blade prices jump up but I think it's the perfect home shop size being able to cut 7x12 steel, and it can be used vertically which I sometimes use.
If you go through it it might make some good money to the right shop.

Nice find, Steve. What is it's cutting capacity???
I used to like Landrovers also, and I found the cure for it. Work on them, some required the use of Imperial, Metric and Whitworth spanners!!!!

I'm not sure Kryn. Looks like it's got enough travel and opening to do about 12x12.
Haven't found an ID plate on it yet.
5hp motor, hydraulic clamping and raise/lower. Came with 4 brand new blades and 20 years of grime.
I think it's actually hydraulic blade drive too as it's got a rotary hydraulic valve underneath the speed control knob.

Decided to give it a hit with degreaser and a pressure washer while it was still on the ute. Still looked filthy when I finished but the ute ended up covered in muck so I know the saw has a bit less on it now.

Seems to be what is referred to as a "hitch feed" type. The input side clamps the stock then moves it towards the blade. It has two main motors, one for the blade and the other for the hydraulics. Likely there's a separate coolant pump but I haven't eyeballed one yet.

Unfortunately the feed clamp has a broken jaw, which had been repairs in the past but broken again.

Ran out of lift height with my gantry while unloading it, so had to end up up using 2 blocks, a chain block and a lever one.

    Finally back on the ground..
