    Default Buying tooling off Aliexpress

What payment system have you used when buying tooling off Aliexpress. They provide a long list of payment services providers and while I didn't look at all of them but they either seemed to required a bank account a foreign country or were Russian. I wouldn't use the credit card and don't expect to buy enough to bother setting up a debit card just for this.

I have used a credit card, just don't tick the save details box, don't use any of the third party or escrow services.

I've been using a low value CC on Aliexpress for about 5 years mainly for electronics components but also a few bits of tooling and have not had any problems.

One thing I notice on Aliexpress is there seems to be increasingly more things advertised but not available when you go to buy it.
The annoying thing is they take your money and then tell you about it afterwards so you have to go through the email/messaging pingpong of determining whether to get refunded, or wait for the goods.
I don't know if they are testing the market or genuinely out of stock or . . . . . paling silly buggers with the money. After a couple of long waits and one case where the goods never turned up I now always ask for refund. Mind you this has happened to me on ebay as well.

I have been buying tooling (mostly) off Aliexpress for a number of years. I pay by credit card and tick 'don't save details'. I have never had any problems at all.

AliExpress has been my go to for tooling and other goodies for a few years.

I normally do a search for the item I want and then sort by number of orders. This let's me take advantage of the collective wisdom of the many before me and also generally overcomes the "no stock available" issue. I use a CC that has a low limit and is only used for online purchases. I have been using Aliexpress for more and more items and often find the pricing is better than eBay and the shipping seems faster as well. Haven't had any issues to date that weren't resolved quickly.

Does this mean that the merchant doesn't see the credit card number if you don't tick the save details box.

AFAIK AliExpress organises payment to the merchant via your credit card, the merchant doesn't ever get to know your card details whether you tick the save details box or not.

Money is held in escrow by Aliexpress (Alibaba) isnt it?

    Yes, AliExpress does escrow.

You are unlikely to get scammed on AliExpress if you buy from a store that has ok feedback and has been around for a while.

Getting a good description of items is often a problem.

I buy from stores that actually specialise in the particular product. If they sell everything under the sun, they have no idea. If they only sell lathe tooling, there is a reasonable bet they know about lathe tooling.
