Suggestions for rounding over sharp edges on engineers square and combination squares
Suggestions rounding over sharp edges on engineers square and combination squares?
I've just purchased reasonably in-expensive engineers square and combination squares.
All have sharp edges.
Any suggestions on how to make them not so sharp?
Should I leave them?
Can I dull them by microns?
Thanks in advance.Thanks,

Put a strip of emery on a flat surface and gently pull the edge in question along it. All you should be doing is taking the sharp off.

A quick brush (light pass) past a wire wheel on the grinder?
Usually enough to break the edge.

Hi Barry,
A quick swipe with a fine stone is usually enough.Best Regards:

I know a well known boutique maker uses a 3m Scotchbrite debuting wheel on his bench grinder for just this purpose on his squares.

Just remember that depending on the grade, that Scotchbrite can be might aggressive.
