Dykem link
Guys I've located Dykem http://www.waltersandwalters.co.uk/D...id-80600-80400 it's a UK website, AU$13 and shipping is about AU$25 for 236ml bottle. I've had a look around Australia for it and had no luck, hobbies and engineering supplies sells something similar but it's only a 100ml bottle that costs $10 and shipping is $25. Do the math 20,000km away the shipping is the same as 69km away plus you get 136ml more for an extra $3 and a brand that is trusted as opposed to a brand that they don't even know what it is.
What's happening to our country.

might be worth calling and asking

I don't know about You folks access to various chemicals but if Copper sulfate is available You can make flash copper plating to use for marking out. I use it on tool bits when grinding. It uses battery acid in the mix so be careful. Google should probably find it. Everything sounds expensive over there.

I've been meaning to try the copper sulphate layout solution, another thought is to buy some cheap bottles of printer ink refill http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4Pcs-100m...Vme35hizlhobjw
I suppose with all three colours, (Cyan, Magenta and yellow) you could make any colour layout fluid you like.

I never found it in Australia either.
I bought dykem, from Amazon, and used shipitto for mail forwarding when I bought it I also purchased some paint marker pens.
https://www.amazon.com/Dykem-80300-S...m+layout+fluid
Weirdly, they refused to ship the paint marker pens, claiming they were illegal to post because they contained flammable liquid, but they shipped the dykem without a murmur.
Here are the offending pens

What is the difference between Dykem and Dymark?
I bought 1lts Dymark from General Tools 12 months ago.
No price on the bottle. Can't remember how much it cost.

I have tried DyMark Ink in a spray can, but it deposits quite a thick layer and can peel off. I use bearing blue for any marking out I do which is not much.

I did a rough sort of comparison a while back, the bottom line is that Dykem is different, has a sort of acetate smell, Dymark has a sort of solvent smell. The Dykem seems to hold a line better and stands up better under coolant.
But reality is, they aren't all that much different, given the choice I'd go Dykem, but have no problem using Dymark if that's all I've got.

I originally bought Starett mark out dye, I found it is very thick, it flakes off and what doesn't flack off is very hard to remove.

I have changed to simple permanent markers , mistakes are easy to correct and only need to put a strip about 1/2" wide where the marking lines are going to be placed .
And they are cheap.

getting this stuff to Australia is a headache
using SHIPITO and selecting AusPost resulted in being told that that they could not ship goods to aust.
So reselected FedEx.
Had to do this twice as co I bought thru on Amazon shipped it in two different parcels ( unknown to me) both of which arrived on different days. Thinking all was in one box I arranged freight for the first box...if I 'd known I could have consolidated and probably saved on freight to Aust?
Received an email from Shipito this morning requesting (on behalf of Fedex) what the goods exactly were. So sent back an email explaining it was an ink for marking out and link to Travers Tools.
then 10mins ago a call from Fedex again asking what it is. I explained it was engineers layout blue (or red). She was obviously in Australia as she had looked up Blackwoods site and saw Dymark and asked if it was that . I said yeah same stuff really but different ..."Dykem is better" I said. She said she will send back the info .... Told her about other co-note while I was at it, so hopefully no more emails or calls from shipito and Fedex
If it gets here, I hope its worth it!!!!
almost as bad as trying to import firearms stuff
