Adcock and Shipley Mill
Anyone have any experience with an Adcock and Shipley 1ES Horizontal Mill, not a whole lot of info out there about them.

Yes; I have one in the workshop.
Looking at the $500 ebay offering are we?
It is classed as a production mill. The single handle on the right side front of the table operates the "cycle". The table starts from the right side position - engage handle to the left and table moves at quicker rate until it trips a preset dog. Milling feed speed (changeable gears) is automatically selected and cut is made until an adjustable end travel dog is engaged which activates rapids back to the table start position. Be careful around that handle as the feed motor runs constantly. There is provision for a lever lockout.
IMHO a nice sturdy small horizontal mill. The feed system would be a pain if you had a vertical head for it.

Was pondering the one on Ebay, when you say production Mill how would that workout for just a home hobby workshop, saw the info on lathes UK, the one on Ebay looks like the one they describe as a general purpose Mill.
Can you tell me how big it is physically.

The 1ES is the "production" mill as I said with the cycle as described above. That lever on the right side of the table activates the cycle with the table returning to the right on cycle completion. For horizontal milling I can see no problem; but if a vertical head (super rare in Aus) was to be used; it would be almost impossible to mill with the cross slide. With this system you basically take a preset length, full length cut and then change the job or advance the gear blank.
It has a 40 taper and weighs about 865kg. Mine has a large fibreglass chip tray and uses a working area of about 1750w X 1750D. This depth allows for the overhead slide to retract and the electric cabinet door to open.
