Need help identifying this.....please..
I need help to know what this was in its former life! I have searched for hmmmm..... a dxxx long time! My neighbor has this in his backyard as a firepit, but as it was already there he hasn't the foggiest either. It is obviously 1/2 of some sphere. Perfectly round. About 5-6' wide, the lip is about 5-" wide, and as you see, part of the lip has ~ a 2' space cut out. It is extremely heavy. Maybe a couple 100#? Thickness is~ .5-.75". Only thing my brain can think of is a wrecking ball... But not by the pictures I find. As we are in a gulf state, could it be marine/shipping related? I would also like to make a firepit.
Oh no!!:I am using android and for some reason I cannot send my photo- when I paste, an irrelevent phone number attaches!! I am at a loss how to post this pic!

Michael- don't those have 'spikes' on them- or is that just on tv shows. Will not be able to post picture-Samsung told me on phone call that they were removing 'copy, cut, paste' from some less expensive phones. Even those that people already own.... sorry.

I'm thinking that has merit .According to internet legend, the Weber barbeque company started out as a marine buoy manufacturer.
Weber Story - 1950 | Weber.com
Side note: ever heard an American pronounce buoy? Talk about two countries separated by a common language. They say Boo-wee. Where here its "boy', just the same as indicating the gender of a son.
Regards Phil.
(On Edit). Hope we haven't scared you off. I'd like to see pictures of it. It wont be a wreaking ball, they where solid, and much smaller in size. But very dense. I've never recovered from being call Whelan, during my teen years.

Just read your other threads, you're a two day old member. (16 hours of that, or 3/4 worth of a day is due to time zones). It's not your Samsung. I notice your name is still in Red, and listed as "new member". As a new member. Your just waiting to get ticked off as a real person, and not a SpamBot. That could take a day or two given that all the Mods are all volunteers.
We are slow down here. Give it another day. Dont forget we are 16 hours ahead of Ocala Florida. Most of us are asleep, while you are up.
** Which begs the question, why's a bloke in Ocala Florida, dabbling in an Australian forum? Trump exodus? I thought the Canadian's were picking up those blokes. * Not that there's anything wrong with that*. Just making the point, that we go dark for 12 hours on the USA clock. Thats why I dont sleep. Dont want to miss a thing.
Regards. Phil.

Are you by any chance in or near an old sugar cane growing area? Without seeing your photo the article sounds about the right size and shape for a sugar boiling kettle from a 19th century sugar mill.
