Holbrook lathe relieving
This may be of interest . My Holbrook T13 lathe came standard with the relieving equipment and the taper attachment .
The book says:
" Universal relieving equipment built into the tool room lathe provides a ready means of producing spiral fluted hobs and taps , straight and angular cutters , form cutters, end milling cutters and counterbores, whilst still retaining all the essential features of a lathe
Operating cam is centrally positioned in cross slide and actuates the tool slide so that it operates at any angle around the 360 degrees through which the slide travels
Two distinct and independant drives are installed in the relieving equipment as
1. Drive for number of flutes
2. Lead of spiral required "

hi Mark
It's actually a T model , built between 1938 and the early 50's , it weighs 1400 Kg . It has a short bed and a 13" swing . I'd love a C or B model but they are rare in Aust.

Wow, and that runs with 3 HP? I noted in lathes.uk that there was a splined shaft which run at the rear, and supplied power to the relieving equipment on the slide. You have that also? Interesting kit. Thanks for sharing, Mark

Mark
It actually runs from 2 hp !
To be honest, the relieving equipment will take me ages to sort out , and I need to learn how it all works .
The lathe didn't cost much for what it is . The next size up the T15, I've seen two óf them on ebay ..sold cheap , one was $800 in excellent shape .
These lathes are heavy , you need good lifting gear to move stuff like this , your average engine crane will struggle !
The strange looking brass lever under the cross slide dial is for quick return of the cross slide when thread cutting , this lathe has the nice hendey type auto stop system with the bevel gear single tooth clutch

The machine itself looks good but that is an atrocious colour scheme they painted it.
I see where the pics are "hosted", I am surprised that works.Gold, the colour of choice for the discerning person.

I don't envy you trying to work that out. I don't know if you have a Manual for your Lathe or not, but I came across this on the Internet http://www.pearl-hifi.com/07_Facilit..._C10_13_16.pdf
That Link is direct to a PDF Manual for Holbrook C10, C13 and C16 Lathes, as it's a direct link it will download straight away. The PDF is about 24mb. I didn't go right through the manual, but it has info about the Taper Turning attachment and the Relieving attachment in it.All The Best steran50 Stewart
