New machinery purchase
Hey guys, I bought a brobo. It's a s350d brobo Waldown cold saw. It needs a lot of work but I got it for a steal.
I have ordered a new pivot block from brobo. And I am starting teardown this weekend, should be a fun project.

That'll come in nice and handy once it's finished. Are you going to do a WIP?

I've started the clean up process, I've got the bevel plate free and re-greased.
I have also received the pivot block from Brobo and fit it to the saw.

Also, anyone able to weld aluminium in the Campbelltown area? I want to remake the coolant tray. I will cut all the parts from some scrap aluminium diamond plate. I just need someone to weld it up for me.

Might pay to check the function of the diaphragm coolant pump - from memory they are one of those essential things that can fail over time.

The pumps do get awfully gungy too, which stops the valves inside it from sealing well. Its not a complicated component, just filthy work.
If you need any measurements or photos of bits and pieces for that machine, sing out - we've got that exact saw at work.

I have an earlier version where the coolant pump runs of a cam on the rear of the motor.
The pump is off a Viva or Gemini. Yours looks similar.
So we got the diaphragm from Repco no probs.

Its Alive! I have wired up the saw (after this photo was taken), with the new switch and new motor.
Now i just need to clean the vise and check out the coolant pump.
My blade should be here in a week or 2 from hare and forbes. It has been a fun project so far.

What was your plan of attack in getting the Rotary Table back in working order?
I've noticed that these older models are fairly inaccessible when it comes to cleaning under the rotary/bevel table.
I am fairly reluctant to completely remove the gear box assembly from the pivot block at the back, but figure that this is probably that only way to get my S053D Brobo greased sufficiently. It really doesn't want to budge. My guess is that it was used in the 90 degree cutting position for 30+ years! Wish me luck...and feel free to shoot me any hot tips.

many years ago at work a fitter was moving a brobo saw with a forklift and tipped it over and snapped the pivot casting in half, he repaired it by welding it up, did a good job too, same fitter also broke a blade in a large guillotine that was jammed with the blade down, he levered on a 6ft crowbar and chipped a large chunk out of the blade, boss was not happy
