Misleading or Deceptive Ebay pictures
Was looking on Ebay for a Keyway Broach and came across an ad with the following pictures in it.
1.JPG2.JPG3.JPG
Now I may not be the smartest tool in the shed, but to me what you see in the pictures is what is being advertised unless stated otherwise. When I question the seller about it and told him the pictures were misleading here is his response.
My response to him when told there are no Bushes Included.
"Then maybe you shouldn't have such misleading pictures in your ad and you should mention no bushes are included in the body of the ad"
His Response back.
"sorry shane where does it say anywhere in description that bushes are included the broach shows people how they work best you buy from your local supplier we do not need your business good luck pal"
If you do a search you will see which Ebay seller this is, I thought he was better than that by his feedback, obviously feedback is not a real good guide either.Shane

Thanks for that, my radar goes off whenever an item is advertised as "Not Rubbish" it is usually a good indication that it in fact is. On the plus side I've purchased from that seller previously and had no problems.
How could you use a broach without a bushing?

I doubt that it is misleading or deceptive, the ad does say keyway broach or 1/8A type broach (the ad I looked at anyway)
but does seem to be lazy advertising to have photos not relevant to the actual item being sold included
but then again furniture retailers do say 'lamp not included' when showing the photo of the side table on sale, which I always thought really wasn't needed
where's south west goulburn?regards

Add does say bushes are extra and can be ordered.
Are you still chasing this, if so what size is the bore, I may be able to help.

Although the add I saw for a "Keyway Broach 6mm C type" does state that they "REQUIRE BUSHES WE STOCK A RANGE OF BUSHES" it should be clearly stated that bushes are not included. I read the add as for a broach only, but including pics of items not in the auction, could possibly make some think they are getting more than a broach.

Last response from seller.
My message
"I am just pointing out that it doesn't say they are not included, but it also doesn't say they are , when I looked up keyway broaches and saw your ad the photo's showed bushes in the ad so I naturally assumed they were included that is why I asked.
Can we do business or not.
Also your website appears to be down."
His reply
"I am sure when you go down to your local engineering supplier he will supply you what ever you want , best you approach them they be not so misleading"
He seems to have that much business he doesn't need mine in the future.Shane

I usually go check other sales or original suppliers if possible for a comparison of quality, price and what should be in the kit.
This is off kilter a little just further to false advertising. In the last 12 months looking at home rentals put up by agents who use photos up to 10 yrs old now if thats not misleading. Being there is a repository for agents on line of photos of the homes thy can use.
Over the last 6 months looking at homes for sale produced the same results in a large number of cases. I brought one agent to task about the deception as I had spotted the vegetation around the house and other homes in their ads and photos in comparison to street view or overhead view, his response was "the date at which Google was showing was say 2009 no the present." My reply " Its great to see Google maps can photoshop so many trees, gardens and new structures and give them 10 years growth.
More recently is TELSTRA who I took out a new bundle package with when they offered a discount of $10 of the bundle. I also checked that being on DSP I would get the Gov rebate as well. "Yes".
In a an email from I presume a manager (might even be your brother or cousin Nick name of Andy E) I was informed that 'The $10 discount offered has been removed" It had been an enticement, they can't do that was my response legally!!!!!!!!
Then I find out they reinstated the $10 discount but have removed the Government Rebate.
Numerous phone calls have gone no where and it has been stated by a Team leader that the rebate can not be applied to the bundled packages. Now a mate who's on seniors pension was given a $20 discount still has it as well as his rebate. is that not discrimination or what??

Funny thing is, I knew exactly which seller you were talking about when I read the response you got. I queried that same seller quite a few years ago on the drawbar thread on some piece of R8 tooling (can't remember which), as the listing didn't specify. I got back a similarly rude response along the lines of R8 arbors have never been made in anything other than 7/16 UNF, written in such a way that very clearly meant "Why are you wasting my time with these stupid questions, don't you know anything?". For some reason, he got really annoyed when I politely sent him back a link to the same piece of tooling from a different supplier with an M12 thread, and a note to the effect that actually, there were other threads available in R8 tooling, hence my 'stupid' question.
Ever since then, I flick straight past his listings. Even when he actually has something I want, which has happened a few times - as soon as I see that seller name, window gets closed.
