It is spring!
I am also waiting for the ground to stop squishing. I have satellite dish cabling to lay and backyard fence poles to cement in. Fortunately I have not dug any holes yet. That would be frustrating.

Mark..... so its your fault that there is widespread flooding.
I feel your frusrtion as this has happened to me also many times, so much that I felt that I could break a drought by digging a hole. Many years ago I was laying in the slop bucketing out footings just prior to a footing inspection and I thought there must be a better way !
In the following weeks as time permitted I adapted a washing machine pump to the end of a brush cutter shaft, at about 1/2 throttle the water would spirt out like a fire hose.
It was an indispesable tool, I also used it to fill 44's with water from dams to be used for mixing concrete away from water supplys.
Look on the bright side, bit more conca in the holes can only be a good thing 😠
Good luck

Finally some progress.
The 10 main piers are finally drained of water and cemented!!
621.jpg
620.jpg Only took 9 m3 of cement. Will post some more pictures when the covers and formwork come down. as per usual didn't have time to take any pictures during the cementing. Used a vibrating poker to improve the cement distribution and remove air pockets. Those things are awesome.

Personally I think Mark is cheating using that C Section to get the bolts all straight and lined up.

When you get the crane installed, might be a good idea to replace the cable

Wow its been more than 6 months since I updated this thread. Well whats been happening.
A major set back occurred when my wife reminded me that I had promised to build her a new garage/carport BEFORE I built my new shed. Unfortunately I did say that and there was no getting out of it. So time spent designing, deciding on placement, removing 3 large trees etc. Work is now well underway with piers and floor cemented in and most of the structure has been made (I can't cope with kit sheds...too flimsy) and we have started putting it up. Its more advanced than these photos with the trusses up but these were the latest pictures I had.

Now it did give me a chance to try out the vibrating power screed we have made for doing the floor in the big shed. After some initial issues it is now working well and really cuts down the workload. I am more than an hour from the nearest readymix concrete plant so even with retardants we have to get the concrete out as quickly as possible when it arrives and the screed definitely helps with this.

Now I have not been completely neglecting the big shed. I am very keen to get the cement floor (all 50m3) of it laid by early spring. It just gets too hot after that. So recently cemented in the piers for the central end roof supports and have started putting down the compacted road base for the sub floor layer. Have 75 tonnes of road base and about 50 tonnes of blue metal dust to do. The shed floor will be 200mm thick of 32MPa concrete in the main heavy machine area ( 6m x 15m ) and 150mm in the rest. It will have between 100-150mm of road base and blue metal dust under that. The floor will be poured in 4 stages with each slab joined by large dowels to ensure minimal movement. I am very much looking forward to leaving all this cementing behind and moving onto the steel work.

I like the seating for the supervisors ,in the last pic.
As others have said when it comes time to place all of the machines it wont be big enough.

The bench is the material I'm using for the posts 310 UC 158. I was using it to line up some 150mm C section purlin to weld for the formwork.
The 288m2 of the new shed will join the existing 160m2 of the old shed next to it. They will be joined by a 2-3m wide doorway. So that would give me about 450m2 of shed space. Surely that will be enough.

Do you have enough room on the side for an extension? I've found that no matter the size of the shed, it'll never be big enough.
