Default Amazing Value - Electronic Magazine Subscription - Model Eng and Model ENg Workshop

I was on the MEW site and saw they distributed electronic copies via a site called Magzter.

I had a look ............ amazing value ...............MEW and MEW electronic versions plus 3498 other magazines for $7.99 per month

Go here World's Largest Newsstand | Online Magazines | Digital Magazine for iPad, Android, Windows 8 and Web

Hit the link for the Gold Package at top of page you can subscribe to 3500 magazines for 7.99 a month

Take out a 3 months subscription to check it out - there is a fairly good search function

and you can share it with 4 of your friends just type in their email addresses

You also get access to back copies - some magazines have more back copies than others

If you use your tablet you can save individual pages as pdf files or squirt them straight to email, facebook, etc etc etc

You can bookmark pages to find them later

its worth it just to get access to the latest ME and MEW without mentioning the back copies - limited to last 12 months for MEW

    Regards

    Bill

I agree the offer seems extraordinary especially when you consider that the subscription to the individual magazines on the same site are quite expensive.

Found it !- Posted by Niel Wyatt one of the moderators of the forum and the editor of MEW - here is the link

    Yes the magazines are downloadable.

    They are not pdf files.

You need the Magzter app to read them after you have downloaded them, the app is free.

You can then save individual pages as pdf files - and then its fairly easy to use other software to stitch 3-4 pdf files together to make a single pdf file if you want to.

I stand corrected. .. Looking forward to a review of how well it works. Pocket mag isn't that impressive, competition might help.

    Ok ............ review time

    Summary .............. Its Brilliant .............................

Zillions of Magazines - Old Glory devoted to old steam engines, Heritage Railway - not hard to guess what that's about, Motor cycle mags, Total Guitar and Computer Music amongst others, various industrial magazines, painting drawing drumming electronics etc etc etc ..... and the two I wanted the Model Engineer and MEW. Various Home Beautiful type mags. Not all mags are included in the Gold package of 3500 magazines but ME and MEW are definitely included and enough of the others so that you'd never ever be short of something to read.

List of all magazines here The "All You Can Read" Subscription with Unlimited Access to 3,500+ Digital Magazines with Magzter GOLD. Create your Own Magazine Library on Magzter! it is searchable

Back copies available ie different for different magazines - I think currently approx 12 months on ME and MEW

Ability to include 4 friends in your subscription - or alternately 5 of you pay $1.60 each per month and get access to a gazillion magazines.

Ability to export articles as pdf files (page by page) but then its quite easy to glue them together again electronically

Ability to post an entire article on Facebook, Email, Discussion Boards, - example here Model Engineers' Workshop - January 2016 Digital Magazine from Magzter - World's Largest Digital Newsstand

Android has more capabilities and functionality than Desktop - can download magazine to Android and read later offline cannot do that on Desktop.

Sharp clear graphics and text - dont know whether or not they are scans - they might be some sort of propriety digital magazine file format that MEW gives to Magzter ?- can anybody comment further on how this might be done ?

As mentioned before its not a scam, endorsed by editor of MEW and ME see link in post above.

My impression is that the business model must rely upon massive subscriber base and low cost to distribute electronic media - am intrigued can anyone comment on this ?- electronic access seems to lag the paper copies by a couple of weeks but it would take that long for postage from UK and US anyway.

Summary ............ Its Brilliant .......... have a look. Before anybody asks I'm not affiliated or on finders fees or getting kickbacks etc etc etc.

I don't know how long this offer has been available, but I suspect the subscription price will rise once they have enough people hooked. Like free apps that suddenly become 'pay for' once you've spent a year or more using it and setting it up the way you like it.
